[Fedora-directory-users] features
by Dinil Divakaran
Greetings !!
Before going for Fedora Directory Server, I thought of going
through the feature list to see what all additional features
are supported when compared to OpenLDAP.
Though the feature list and FAQ says about many features
supported by Fedora Directory Server (like multi-master
replication, nested roles, cascading using hubs etc), they
don't provide information about some common features that
are supported by OpenLDAP. Some of such features include,
support for SNMP, password hashing, support of LDAP search
filters such as presence, equality, inequality, sub-string,
approximate and boolean operators, support for consumer-
initiated replication, support for supplier-initiated
replication, support for Digital certificates, support for
XMLDAP gateway and whether the Directory server support
XML for integration with external applications. XML and
XMLDAP are not supported by OpenLDAP too, I believe.
May be most of the above features were trivial to the
Directory Server; but still, I would like to know whether
these features are supported before going for Fedora
Directory Server.
Can anyone please help ?
Note: I am not a member of this mailing list; kindly put
a CC to me.

[Fedora-directory-users] sasldb.Tpo problem
by Szüts Attila
I'm very new user of RedHat. (I recently use Debian Linux and OpenLDAP
technology.)
I've freshly installed a Linux centos 2.6.9-5.0.3.ELsmp (CentOS) to try
Fedora Directory Server functionality.
Downloaded dsbuild-0.1.tar.gz doesn't build the server, exiting with the
following error message: (I think I can use Fedora build tools on
CentOS. :-))

Missing any devel package or something else is wrong?
In Google only a Russian forum found, but doesn't help.
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks in advance

[Fedora-directory-users] cert signing
by Brian K. Jones
Hi,
Anyone have a procedure for self signing a certificate request from FDS using
an existing CA cert with openssl? Also - anyone know why I can't just use an
existing cert/key pair with FDS that was created and self-signed already - or
if I can, how?

[Fedora-directory-users] change port on DS/AS
by Brian K. Jones
Hi,
I used the gui to change the ports on my test DS. Now I need to change the
port that the AS uses to connect to the DS, and I have no clue how to do
that. I can't (obviously) log into the admin console, because it now can't
connect to the server on the old port numbers, and I can't figure out which
file under /opt/fedora-ds stores this vital piece of information.
The DS works fine, but I can't administer it from the console, which I'd
really like to do.
Clues hereby solicited.

[Fedora-directory-users] Configuration Directory
by George Holbert
Hello,
The installer for Fedora DS asks about which directory server should be
the "Configuration Directory Server." My understanding is that this
configuration directory server stores information about the
Fedora/Netscape console (e.g., which servers show up in the console
screen, etc.)
Is this the only special role played by the Configuration Directory
Server, or does it also store other configuration (for example, is it
also a central repository for a common cn=config)?
My hunch is it's only about the console, but just wanted to confirm this.
Thanks!

[Fedora-directory-users] Ready production use?
by Sam Tran
Hi all,
I would like to know what the status of the initial release of FEDORA
Directory Server is?
Is it considered as a stable release for production use?
In June 15,2005 MD5 password hashing was added. What are the other
future addons? The roadmap is not clear to me?
Thanks.

That said, does Fedora DS support online configuration
changes, online schema update and online indexing ?
Also, does the Fedora Directory Server support
controlling access to the directory, a sub-tree,
entries, attributes by setting permissions for users,
groups, roles and location information like IP
addresses ?

[Fedora-directory-users] Messaging server
by Jeff Clowser
I know this is a little (lot?) off topic, but did Red Hat pick up the
Netscape Messaging server in the purchase? Any news on what will happen
with that?
