Today we added an eq index to a Directory String attribute in our ds. To our surprise, it stopped matching after a reindex.
The schema for the object does not define an equality type.
What is the default behaviour if no equality type is defined?
Is there some other edge case we are potentially hitting?
We’ve inherited a 389-ds system (126.96.36.199-48.el6_6) that is running on a VM provisioned with a single CPU. We have been experiencing high CPU with a client that connects with a single connection, and then runs large amounts of queries of the form:
SRCH base="ou=GROUPS,dc=<our dc>" scope=2 filter="(&(objectClass=groupOfNames)(member=uid=<loginname>,ou=EMPLOYEES,<our dc>))" attrs=“1.1"
We’re wondering if adding extra CPU’s to the vm will make things better. The original engineer noted that at the time of implementation, he had come across some notes that indicated that the underlying process was single threaded and adding extra CPU’s would not make any improvement; in fact, on heavily loaded vm infrastructure like ours, may make things worse as the the vm would have to wait for the CPU to become available. Is this still true?
Thanks a lot,
I did stupid mistake and deleted some entries... only backup I do have
are *db4 files from filesystem backup.
Is there any chance how to convert them to LDIF without running DS?
I can't restore them to place where active database is running. And I do
not see other way how to use db2ldif.pl.

I would like to know how to add a custom user defined attribute. Basically I need to add another user defined attribute to user entries for another email address. The F5 software that is looking at the user entries does not accept it when the current email field has multiple entries. Is it possible to rename current attributes that are predefined? And once the attributes are created is it possible to get them to show up on the properties screen in the GUI when double clicked. I have tried previously to create one but it was never able to be added to the users. Any help that can be provided would be greatly appreciated. If any further information is need just let me know.

I’m looking for a howto that explain the migration processs from FD 1.0.4
to an up to date 389 DS.
Can somebody share this doc or could i have an invoice of someone to make
this for me.
I’am two MASTERS FDS 1.0.4 and multiple slaves.
- I would like to get from DS when the last transaction from
master1/suplier was sent to consumer and the time stamp was processed by
consumer using ldapsearch option , any suggestion , I 'm using the
objectClass=nsDS5ReplicationAgreement but can get time stamp.
- I'm usig 389-console admin :replication status and all the following
entries show as :
consumer initialization not in progress
last consumer update message : not available
last consumer initialization began : not available
the option for continuous refresh is on
How can I get this entries to show the time stamp for last transaction
processed by supplier?
I’m afraid this will be a total newb question.
I’m currently running 389 DS 188.8.131.52-1.el6 and have seen the notice that 1.2.11.X will be discontinued soon (as of 24-Oct-2014). [It probably has already been discontinued since the COPR repository is no longer there.]
I’d like to switch from 1.2.11 to 184.108.40.206 and have yum downgraded to 220.127.116.11-48.el6_6.
However, when I try to "yum upgrade 389-ds-base 389-ds-base-devel 389-ds-base-libs” it tells me "No Packages marked for Update”. Am I doing something wrong?
I’ve followed the directions on http://www.port389.org/docs/389ds/download.html and epel-release-6-8.noarch.rpm is already installed. [That doc is still telling me to install the temporary COPR, by-the-way.]
Thanks in advance,
