Custom splash.jpg

Hi guys, I have a question about creating a custom CD. I want to make a new CD with a custom splash.jpg, menu background. However, if I replace it after buildinstall ran, I get a black background. (image does not load for some reason). If I replace the "/usr/lib/anaconda-runtime/syslinux-vesa-splash.jpg" file, it also does not work. So my question is, how to I make my custom splash? Which files to update, where and when (before buildinstall, after?) and are there any limitations (resolution, palette, etc) Thanks!

Dependencies Anaconda (buildinstall)

Hi guys, Just a quick question regarding the buildinstall process of anaconda. It needs some dependencies, which should be placed in the Packages directory. However, what I want to do is strip a Fedora9 distro to it's bare core, without all kinds of junk (also for size, I want to fit it on a CD, not DVD). But the anaconda dependencies make that very hard for me, as lots of packages contain graphical stuff that are quite a few MB. Now, I will ONLY be using a kickstarted text installer, no graphical mode. Now, how would I go about building a distro, without the build-dependencies in the Packages/ directory. Is it possible to put them elsewhere, and then point to that directory: "look here for your dependencies"..? Thanks. xxxxxx

Getting rid of our remaining rhpl dependencies

So rhpl has over time turned into something of a dumping ground and we're really not using it for much any more. This probably means it's getting close to its time to go away (much like was done with pythonlib before). Left in anaconda[1] are really just a couple of uses of rhpl * rhpl.getArch() -- We mvoed this out of iutil, we could easily move it back * rhpl.simpleConfig -- I think this might be replaceable with python-iniparse but I haven't looked to make sure * rhpl.keyboard -- we use this in a few places and definitely would need to do something for the consolidated keyboard list. But system-config-keyboard might be the better place for this to live Anyone else have any opinions or want to look at any of the above? Jeremy [1] The biggest thing was rhpl.translate, but I moved everything to just use the gettext module directly today.

Anaconda Error: RootPasswordWindow

Hi all, I am currently making a stripped version of Fedora 9, and have no errors with the createrepo and buildinstall, however (when installing / running the CD), I get the following error just after the network configuration: ============================================ An error occurred when attempting to load an installer interface component. className = RootPasswordWindow [ Exit ] [ Retry ] ============================================ Retry does not work, exit will make it reboot. When I do a grep, I see that this file is part of the anaconda.rpm This file is in my repository (Packages/), just like the runtime RPM. Both are also installed... What am I missing here?... Also, it seems the repo-CD builder has changed from older distro's. Are there newer HOW-TO's? Thanks in advance! xxxxxx

[PATCH] Use yum.rpmUtils.arch.canonArch instead of rhpl

Here's a patch to replace the rhpl.arch.canonArch stuff with the same thing from yum.rpmUtils. Not sure if we can use it the same way, but it didn't complain when I used it this way. -- David Cantrell <dcantrell(a)redhat.com> Red Hat / Honolulu, HI

Hebrew support for anaconda

Hi, I'm the Hebrew translation team coordinator (http://translate.fedoraproject.org/languages/he) I just opened a bug (including the minimal needed patches) to add Hebrew support to anaconda (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=449238) As soon as this support goes in, we can do a proper translation of anaconda to Hebrew and have it in time for F10. BTW: What is the easiest way to test a modified anaconda? For these patches, I modified my working files in /usr/lib/anaconda and tested by: anaconda -t -G -m foobar However, this runs only as root, and help me only in the first few screens (before the partitioning phase). Any better way?
