The server images are not working with Fedora 31

Hi, Just wanted to point out that due to U-Boot not supporting XFS, and Fedora Server has moved to a XFS /boot, the current images as https://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/fedora/linux/releases/31/Server/aarch64/im… does not boot on any system using U-Boot, like for example the raspberry pi. Hi all, I have the following device: DIY Laptop by Olimex https://www.olimex.com/Products/DIY-Laptop/ It is a 2GB A64 Cortex A53 Quad core 64-bit processor based. https://www.olimex.com/Products/DIY-Laptop/SPARE-PARTS/TERES-PCB1-A64/open-… There are several options for running Linux on it, but Fedora is not among them https://github.com/OLIMEX/DIY-LAPTOP/tree/master/SOFTWARE/A64-TERES I did not manage to run the latest stable Fedora on it. How can I help with getting Fedora on this laptop? Is there a how-to for getting this to run? Kind regards: al_shopov

mozjs68 (Firefox ESR js engine) on armv7 fails since GCC10

Hi, since GCC 10 introduction to Fedora, mozjs68[0] package started to fail[1] to compile on armv7. Apparently, some data structures changed their size: > /builddir/build/BUILD/firefox-68.5.0/js/src/vm/Shape.h:807:58: error: > static assertion failed: Things inheriting from gc::Cell must have a size > that's a multiple of gc::CellAlignBytes > /builddir/build/BUILD/firefox-68.5.0/js/src/vm/JSScript.h:3408:59: error: > static assertion failed: Size of LazyScript must be an integral multiple of > js::gc::CellAlignBytes > 3408 | static_assert(sizeof(LazyScript) % js::gc::CellAlignBytes == 0, Nuking all those static_assert checks [2] resulted in unusable binary, so that's unfortunately not a way forward. Bug has been reported to mozilla bugzilla: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1612797 The last successful build was made in GCC 9 side tag. I am currently busy with other more pressing issues, so I'll try to add more meaningful information to this thread later, if needed. Hi! I got Fedora working on PinePhone the other day, and it works surprisingly well, even though it's just desktop GNOME. It's a 5.6 kernel with... ... this device tree: https://megous.com/git/linux/tree/arch/arm64/boot/dts/allwinner/sun50i-a64-… (branch: pp-5.6) ... and this u-boot: https://megous.com/git/u-boot/ (branch: opi-v2020.01) ... and some modifications to make bluetooth, sound, cameras, etc. work How would I go about putting this into Fedora so people could (for example) get Fedora on their PinePhones with arm-image-installer? Also slightly offtopic, but the version of phoc (needed to run phosh, which is Librem's mobile UI) in the repositories depends on libwlroots 0.7, which is not packaged for ARM and doesn't compile with the GCC 10 (wow that's a high version) in rawhide. Can I submit PRs on https://src.fedoraproject.org/? It doesn't look like people usually do that...

Latest Fedora update leaves aarch64 unbootable RPi V3.

Hey all, I have a fair number of Raspberry Pi V3 B/B+ and Raspberry Pi V2 B systems running Fedora 31 (and a V4 I would like to get on Fedora - still waiting). I have Fedora 31 aarch64 installed on most of the V3 and armv7l/armhfp on the V2 systems. Running dnf updating today, updated to the 5.4.19 kernel and the update of the aarch64 images seemed to hang while running the kernel-core script for over an hour. Looking from another terminal and running top (running dnf upgrade remotely over ssh), looks like grubby is hung burning CPU time and eating memory (and I have lots of cache). Couple machines eventually crashed, and I killed grubby on a couple of others, and the dnf eventually ran to completion on the later 2. In all cases (5 - aarch64 systems) I was left with totally unbootable systems. The ones with screens go straight to the U-Boot prompt or trying to reboot over and over again looking for storage and then looking at eth0 and then rebooting and never show the kernel selection prompt. The few armv7l/armhfp systems haven't seem to have gotten that the 5.4.19 upgrade yet. I've still got two booted and running aarch64 systems running (haven't rebooted) and I'm going to try and roll that update back. Any thoughts to were to go from here? Uboot fdtfile incorrect for Odroid XU4

I have installed fedora 31 on my Odroid XU4. However I have noticed a problem with the uboot image in uboot-images-armv7 (2019.10). I have used the uboot image /usr/share/uboot/odroid-xu3/u-boot.bin and I have found it has the fdtfile environment variable set to "exynos5422-odroid.dtb". In checking the boot partition of the fedora system the dtb directory does not contain exynos5422-odroid.dtb. My work around is to create a link from exynos5422-odroid.dtb to exynos5422-odroidxu4.dtb in the dtb directory. Another is to edit the fdtfile environment at the uboot prompt when booting the XU4. Neither of the above are really satisfactory as the link needs creating again when there is a kernel update. editing the variable at the boot prompt is even worse as it needs to be done for every boot. Is there a better way I can fix this or does the uboot-images-armv7 package need fixing? Regards Michael Whapples

(sorry if you get this twice -- I wasn't subscribed with this address so I think my message was held for moderation or just blocked) Hi, I've got an x86_64 F29 desktop and I'm trying to run Fedora-Minimal-31 ARM on QEMU. I was following the instructions in the various F25/26/27 "run on QEMU" pages and I've been able to get the system to boot under virt-manager, but once it gets to "Reached Basic System" in the virt-manager console, it stops and never reaches the first-boot setting. I never get asked to set a password. I never get a login screen. I just found a reference to an older web page about QEMU and ARM: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Architectures/ARM/HowToQemu but this page was last touched in 2016. Any assistance would be grand. Hi, I've been trying to build some custom aarch64 Fedora30 images. I tried using imagefactory, but I ran into problems with that since I am virtualizing my build server and there no support yet for aarch64 nested virtualization. I have just added a user account, root password, and activated the network. I am using the following command to attempt to create the image: livemedia-creator --make-disk --ks $1 --image-only --no-virt --resultdir /home/rpi/build/image --releasever 30 --image-name Fedora30BuildTEST Any advice on fixing this issue? Question: u-boot 2020.04 on RPi4

I noticed that there was a new u-boot image for the RPi4: uboot-images-armv8-2020.04-0.2.rc1.fc32.noarch.rpm so I gave it a try. With that u-boot image, once Linux booted, ethernet was not functional. It appeared to come up, but it couldn't do dhcp to get an address. I tried applying an address manually, but that didn't work either. I reverted to the uboot-images-armv8-2020.01-1.fc32.noarch.rpm version and ethernet worked properly. I then tried rebuilding u-boot 2020.04-0.2.rc1 from source, but without the "Ethernet-support-for-Raspberry-Pi-4.patch" file and ethernet worked. Has anyone else observed this behavior? Steve

If QA is fine to continue to do all the QA on the current bits sure, in terms of engineering etc the feature is complete (and actually was going back a number of releases), this is really just a QA/process change. Personally I'd like to get it done now and move on with life but it's mostly not going to affect me much either way so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As discussed in the Fedora QA meeting today, below are the proposed changes to release blocking desktops on ARM. == Summary == Proposed changes to the Desktop release criteria for ARM and AArch64 in Fedora 32: * drop Xfce on 32-bit ARM from release blocking desktops * add Workstation on AArch64 to release blocking desktops == Detailed Description == In Fedora 32 we will have a couple new additions to release blocking deliverables including IoT and CoreOS. In order to reduce the overall test coverage and release blocking desktops we propose no longer blocking on the 32-Bit ARM Xfce Desktop spin, and adding Workstation on AArch64 as a release blocking desktop. Release blocking image changes: Drop: Spins/armhfp/images/Fedora-Xfce-armhfp-_RELEASE_MILESTONE_-sda.raw.xz Add: Workstation/aarch64/images/Fedora-Workstation-aarch64-_RELEASE_MILESTONE_-sda.raw.xz Testing will still be completed on the 32-Bit ARM Xfce spin to ensure it continues to work, but any issues found will not block the overall release. networking in fedora on Odroid XU4

I have installed fedora 31 on my Odroid XU4 following instructions at https://blog.pcfe.net/hugo/posts/2019-01-27-fedora-29-on-odroid-hc2/. Mostly it seems to work, at least for what I want (IE. as a headless server). There is one problem which I am having. The built in network controller works most of the time. However I have found if I do a reboot using shutdown -r now then the network card is not found by linux (eg. output of lsusb does not show it and it is not in output from ifconfig). If I should shutdown using shutdown -h now and then power on by using the power button, the network controller is detected and networking works normally. Some google searches suggest that people with the same model of realtek network card, but in an external form, have had problems with their network card because of power management features in Linux. If I check /sys/bus/usb/devices/6-1/power/control then the value is "on" which I believe means no power management/suspend. So seems like this may not be the issue. Does anyone have any suggestions on what may be wrong? Might this be a kernel bug and if so where would be best to report it? Thanks in advance for any help. Michael
