Hi all,
I have been working with Ian McLeod on getting oz and imagefactory running on arm. I used the resulting work to build a docker base image for arm. docker is installable on arm in f22 and rawhide though the registry does not work correctly since it only supports x86_64.
I figured I would put the base image up at[1] I have tested that it loads with "docker load -i Fedora-Docker-Base-22_Alpha_TC8-20150302.armv7hl.tar.xz" and that it runs bash okay with "docker run -t -i Fedora-Docker-Base-22_Alpha_TC8-20150302.armv7l /bin/bash"
Regards
Dennis

Hi Dennis,
I've tried my "example" Dockerfile [1] on arm03-packager01.cloud.fedoraproject.org with your image and it worked without any problem.
Steps to reproduce what I did: git clone https://github.com/vpavlin/docker-tools.git cd docker-tools/run-container git checkout arm curl -O https://ausil.us/fedora-arm/22_Alpha_TC8/Docker/armhfp/Fedora-Docker-Base-22... docker load -i Fedora-Docker-Base-22_Alpha_TC8-20150302.armv7hl.tar.xz docker build -t vpavlin/fedora:arm fedora-systemd/ docker build -t vpavlin/mariadb mariadb/ docker build -t vpavlin/wordpress wordpress/ docker run -d -v /sys/fs/cgroup:/sys/fs/cgroup -v /var/log/journal:/var/log/journal --name mariadb vpavlin/mariadb docker run -d -v /sys/fs/cgroup:/sys/fs/cgroup -v /var/log/journal:/var/log/journal -p 80:80 --name wordpress --link mariadb:mariadb vpavlin/wordpress
And open http://arm03-packager01.cloud.fedoraproject.org in a browser - you should see running Wordpress
Looks like we have really working ARM Docker and Docker image(s):)

Excellent, I need to work out a way to build the Base images as part of the official build processes, until then I will make them on the side. and provide updated images. maybe we should look into ways to make it more useful for people.

I have been working with Ian McLeod on getting oz and imagefactory running on arm. I used the resulting work to build a docker base image for arm. docker is installable on arm in f22 and rawhide though the registry does not work very well. We are working on a plan to make it work despite upstream not supporting different arches
I figured I would put the base image up at[1] I have tested that it loads with "docker load - -i Fedora-Docker-Base-22_Alpha-20150305.armv7hl.tar.xz" and that it runs bash okay with "docker run -t -i Fedora-Docker-Base-22_Alpha-20150305.armv7hl /bin/bash"
While building it i notcied some issues, fedora-release-server was pulled in along with a bunch of deps, I suspect this is an issue for x86_64 also. I think at this point we should evaluate supporting i686 also.

First and foremost, this is awesome! Thanks for doing this. :)
Second ....
Is this something that could be pushed up to the Docker hub under the Fedora namespace? Just slap a armhfp (or $similar) tag on it with appropriate documentation that it's meant to be used for ARM?
Or maybe even open up a new "namespace" in the Docker hub that's specific to Fedora ARM?
Just a thought, but I think it'd be cool to have this officially out in the hub so people can easily 'FROM fedora:armhfp' or 'FROM fedora-arm:latest' in their Dockerfiles.

I am sure we can, there is a bunch of arm images up there already, we would just need to do it. I am not 100% sure how to do so.

I don't mind following up on this, but I'm curious what the preference would be. Should Fedora ARM have it's own "namespace" or should it just be a repository within the Fedora namespace on the hub?
Ie.
FROM feodra/armhfp
vs
FROM fedora-arm
In a Dockerfile.

It's probably a decision we need to make for all architectures. I expect there to be docker support for aarch64/ppc64/ppc64le in the F-23 timeline so it's probably a good idea to make an overall decision and process for these.

+1 - I'll start a thread on devel@fp.o about that.
