Peter,
Following on from our discussion yesterday, and CC'd to fedora-arm mailing list, I've uploaded an image.
http://www.digitaldreamtime.co.uk/Fedora/Pi2B-Minimal-armhfp-21-5-20150211-1...
This is based on the F21 Minimal image with minimal changes. Initial setup hasn't run, selinux is disabled, firewalld is masked, and root password is fedora. Otherwise, it is the "stock" image, yum updated today, minus the "stock" kernel, instead using raspberrypi-kernel package, which was based on the original Pidora package and modified. (Same goes for raspberrypi-vc firmware package. Also originated from Seneca and somewhat modified. ;)) I also added a raspberry-pi-local package to collect together all the config stuff, specific to Pi so it's part of a package.... Figured that would make it easier to compose a spin/remix from scratch....
Specific to supporting the 2B....

This is fantastic news!
is this just a matter of DD the .img to my SD card or do I have to use the fedora-arm-installer with the .xz and choose a 'u-boot'?
I anticipate my weekend activities will be consumed by this email...
Thanks

It booted for me when I applied power after writing the unxz'ed image to an 8 GB SD card.
I am have quite a bit of trouble with the Ethernet, though. I can force it to be alive by providing enough information for NetworkManager to configure it, but I lose 90% or more of the packets to a host on the same switch.

I unxz first & then used fedora arm installer, everything looks ok mounted in dolphin on fedora 21 here.
Pi 2 Green light on solid when powered up, nothing .
Using a 16GB sandisk ultra uhs-1 uSD, Is that an issue with these ?
I may have to start again.

Are you using the serial console? It's a minimal version so has no X. I haven't actually tried it with the HDMI connected.

I haven't tested with a monitor/keyboard connected. Just serial console and ssh into it (root/fedora) over ethernet port. (Everything I'm interested in is "headless".)
Not sure what the problem is referenced above about the ethernet. I've tested this on 5 different boards. Packet loss? Nope not seen any issues. No NetworkManager conf reqd. Works out of the box, assuming you have dhcp server. Was getting 11.6MB over the eth port yesterday coping 2GB files over nfs, which is par for the course with the on-board 100Mb port connected via USB to the SoC.
I will make an xfce image over the weekend and post my notes.
I'm not being rude, but I don't have time to hand hold, hence why I posted the link to this image to an ARM dev list, not a user list! ;)
First thing you guys will need to be doing, is expanding the 3rd (root) partition to fill the rest of your card. "sc-cleanUpdate-pi" (followed by a reboot) get's you updated kernel/firmware from yesterday. But you will need to enlarge that root partition before you update.

Clive

This is why I posted. Since it does work for you, it's my board or network. Thanks!

I don't find your response rude at all. It's a great service to have built a usable image.

No need to hand hold Clive, yes . I just found my uSD card unexpected until my memory kicked in.

Clive, No it works as expected with systemd graphical target set. I dont like sddm, so I uninstalled and use gdm instead, due to it's more versatile auto-login properties.
I did clock it a little
arm_freq=1000 sdram_freq=500 core_freq=500 over_voltage=2
with
hdmi_force_hotplug=1 disable_overscan=1 hdmi_drive=1
and 1920 x 1080 framebuffers

OK, I'm not going to mess with that "default". ;)

arm_freq=1000 sdram_freq=500 core_freq=500 over_voltage=2
Yes, they are the settings that have passed load testing on the 7 Pi2B boards I have. However, I'll leave them commented and for a user to set, rather than defaults. With the ondemand governor, and without any tweaking of those settings there are two freq/speeds available, 600 and 900MHz. "cpupower fequency-info" should show you 600MHz and 1000MHz being available with "arm_freq=1000" set.

OK, I got a boot, all good.
What happened is about a month ago,...>
I purchased 5 16GB 'sandisk' ultra cards, from an ebay vendor in Perth Australia.
I noticed these cards were 540mb bigger than usual, and they would not boot on odroids, or anything else i have. I had put one aside for the Pi hoping it would work, and alas obv, it does not.
I got another card from my genuine stock and it works fine.
So watch out for these fake sandisk's the packaging looks real, but the extra capacity gives them away, besides the no boot.

Not sure when it was added to their (RPi) kernel github. Assuming it has been, it's in the kernels I'm building. (Currently tracking their rpi-3.18.y branch.)
"sudo sc-cleanUpdate-pi raspberrypi*" get's you updated to my latest kernel builds...

Do you have a spare SDCARD? Can you give this xfce image a quick look? Plug in keyboard, monitor, ethernet and boot it...
Get the graphical initial setup screen, OK? Get through it OK, to a working desktop? (The root password is currently fedora, same as that minimal image, just in case anyone wants to quickly get into it headless via ssh or serial console.)

I think I mentioned before that I have zero interest in graphical images myself. Don't use them. But I'll quite happily make them.
For the minimal image, putting "gpu_mem=16" in the default /boot/config.txt was a no-brainer. But for the X spins, do you have any suggested defaults? (Not talking about overscan, blah, blah, blah...) I mean, "start_file=start_x.elf, fixup_file=fixup_x.elf, gpu_mem=128", should those be the defaults for the gui spins?

Michael,
For the moment, please don't go posting any links to that minimal image. I'm still working on a few things. Regular users really need a GUI image for it to be useful to them. I will post a link to an xfce image tomorrow, and after a little development testing, that could be an image for public consumption. But having 10's or 100's of users downloading that 1st minimal image, if a link were to be posted on the Pi Forum,

I've spent time today, reducing the requirement to ship pre-compiled binaries, to just the 2nd and 3rd stage VC boot loader binaries in /boot partition, everything else being compiled from source and delivered via the rpm mechanism, in a Fedora compatible manner. At the moment that update repo is piggybacking on a server that will not support many users. It needs moving, which I will do tomorrow.....

Hi Peter, Thanks, I assumed they couldn't list all the versions for all of the boards available. I already have the minimal, just not been near my house to play around yet, more a comment of excitement than impatience for a download link.
Can I assume that people are just installing x and a desktop environment to achieve Kde or alike? I'm pretty confident in Linux, Fedora at home and work and then CantOS for the rest of the company. Just this ARM malarkey and kernel transplants that confuses me some.
Thanks again,

I'll add a note of that to the config.txt, that you need "start_file=start_x.elf" to end up with a working camera.
Actually Jugen, if you have a spare half hour and a spare SDCARD, can you join Adrian and give the tires of that "test" xfce "spin" a kick.

It's good that you are using vcgencmd. Give that some use too! It's now built from source on the xfce image using Fedora compile options. (On the Minimal image was still following the Pidora way of doing things, using the pre-compiled binaries from RPi firmware git.) So a little testing in that area would be good! ;)
Clive
Guys,
I'm currently uploading a new set of images.... (Still in progress) When done, the Xfce image will be available from...
http://www.digitaldreamtime.co.uk/images/Fidora/21/Pi2B-Fedora-Xfce-armhfp-2...
and the KDE image from...
http://www.digitaldreamtime.co.uk/images/Fidora/21/Pi2B-Fedora-KDE-armhfp-21...
These images have had the rootfs pre resized for an 8GB card. So don't try putting on a smaller card unless you "diddle" with the image, prior to dd'ing it to a card.
These images use the Fedora 21-5 image as base, but have been yum updated, so packages are current as of today, and have the kernel-* packages replaced with raspberrypi-kernel-*.
The pre-installed rasbperrypi-kernel package is current as of this morning. (Did a rpi-3.18.y kernel source pull from PiF github and built new packages.)
Root password is "pidora".
The KDE image default hostname is "fidora-kde-remix", which assuming you plug a network cable in before you boot, will mean you can ssh into it "ssh root@fidora-kde-remix", if not using monitor/keyboard.
The XFCE images default hostname is "fidora-xfce-remix", so avahi will advertise as "fidora-xfce-remix.local".
My connection is slow, getting the images up to the server. More images will be uploaded later today, Minimal and LXDE.
Adrian, yes I was aware of the "other" script to create a Fedora armv7hl image for Pi2B. The main difference being, that instead of "blatting" binaries pulled from PiF firmware github onto the "base" image, everything Pi specific, (aside from boot firmware, which we don't have source for), on these images I am making is compiled with Fedora flags, RPM packaged and can be updated using the usual Fedora mechanisms. (eg. dnf/yum.)
PS. I did ask once before, but noticed yesterday links to the previous "test" images have been posted to the PiF forum..... Please don't post links! Pretty please! When ready, I'll post an announcement to the PiF Pidora/Fedora sub-forum, with links to get the images.
PS2. If you get 404 on the images, they haven't finished uploading. Try again later.
Regards
Clive

Pi2B F21 armv7hl remix images should have finished uploading to the server by now.

I've put the Xfce image onto an SD card and it booted without problem, leaving me in the Anaconda configuration panel, wanting a root and possible user specified. Looks good!

I have installed the previous xfce image (20150217), installs perfectly although I would like to be able to set UK keyboard in the firstboot screen! Midori crashed while I was trying to look at the fedora home page, changed to epiphany and that seemed better.
Also installed the LXQT desktop without any problems, and ran a full dnf upgrade, which updated the kernel correctly.
Great job Clive, very much appreciated.
