#476: Diversity Badge -------------------------------------+------------------------------------- Reporter: | Owner: tatica | Status: new Type: | Keywords: New badge idea | Has a description: 0 Priority: | Artwork status: None minor | External requirements: Has a name: | Triaged (triagers only): 0 0 | Concept approved (reviewers only): | 0 | Badge definition status: | None | Manually awarded: | 0 | -------------------------------------+------------------------------------- Badge description: Badge to be awarded to the members of the Diversity Team.
If this badge is awarded for certain kinds of activities: 1) What are those activities? When a Fedorian is approved at the [https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Diversity Diversity Team]
2) Who is doing them (are they packagers? translators? newcomers? veterans? users? sponsors?) Fedora Contributors
3) Why are they doing them (is this a means to a different end?)
4) When do they do them (every day? once a year?) Once
5) How do they do them (by talking in IRC? by running commands in the console? by using a web interface?) All of them. Interacting with the Team, helping others, attending the meetings, contributing with the Diversity Efforts.
Lastly, do you have any ideas for artwork concepts? I would like a badger and a panda shaking hands.
Despite it's quite common to use the LGBT flag, I would like this badge to be associated with diversity and not with a single group. This badge will serve for everyone, despite race, religion, citizenship, preference, age, etc.

Hi @tatica! The concept looks great, let's refine the artwork a bit! First of all, let's look at the badger from the side. It looks like it's wearing a mask now, let's make it more badger-like? It would be easier to comment if you pasted png location inline like so:
[[Image(http://files.websitebuilder.prositehosting.co.uk/fasthosts3990/image/badger_...)]]
Also I think it's a good idea to have the whole bodies for both panda and badger ;) Maybe make them happier a bit, too? Let's try that! Don't forget to check out badge index here https://badges.fedoraproject.org/explore/badges for reference. For example, we can reuse this artwork partially and make panda on the right look happier. I liked https://fedorahosted.org/fedora- badges/attachment/ticket/476/diversity.png The concept of this one is someone is dealing with rough situation and approaching to diversity team (not happy already).
But, I am in to have full body of both the panda and badger.
Thanks everyone for your inputs and helping to roll this out.

thank you for your feedback! I used one of the pandas from the repo, complete the body and added a smile. Hope it looks a bit better (happier) now.
For the badger I couldn't find a repo for a side-look, so rebuild it again. I'm not sure about the smile, but I'm uploading what I have to get a bit more of feedback.

This is looking amazing. Just a thought, if we can show the light emerging from the center where the hand holding taking place rather than from a side corner?

@tatica, thanks for jumping on this badge so quickly! I have a few ideas for improvements to your latest badge design. The shape of the arms look a little awkward, try making them a more uniform size, similar to this badge: https://badges.fedoraproject.org/badge/apprentice-badge-artist-i also for the badger arm, make the tip of his paw dark and gradient to the gray.
The badger body should be gray, similar to the badge I linked to above. Try making the grey shape of his back fur attach to the top of his head.
The face of the panda is lookin' good, can you try a version where the mouth doesn't come over the edge of his head? The light grey shape on the badger head seems a little off, try playing around with that a bit. The mouth of the badger should have an outline similar to the panda, maybe a dark magenta? A dark grey and grey mouth could look good on him too since that's how we are doing the panda mouth. The white area between the eye stripe and the top of the head could be slightly bigger, or not there at all. It's a little thin right now, and it makes it confusing. I know I'm asking for quite a bit of edits, but this is our first side view badger and we want to get it just right :)
Lastly I'd like to see a version with outlines on the bottom(against the edge of badge design area) or no outlines at all. Right now the panda has them and the badger doesn't.. And the pandas outline looks a little uneven.
Thanks!

Hey @riecatnor,
Can you please make these changes or get someone to do it for us. It will be great if you can take this under your radar :)
Thanks & Regards, Amita
