That's a very good idea. At my campus, we have students going on exchange programme as far as Europe and US. It would be wonderful if a campus ambassador is able to go on such exchange and meet up with his peer on other campus.

I was thinking, such exchange need not necessarily be 6months long. Especially for students, even a 2 week long exchange can go a long way in forging friendship with fellow ambassador.

Just had a thought - something Ambassadors typically *can't* do, but

Ambassador Exchange Programmes.

One thing I've seen come up time and time again is the communication gap
between different language/geo subcommunities in Fedora - most people
from EMEA can't read the Spanish-language LATAM lists, people in LATAM
don't know what's happening in APAC because they can't understand IRC
channels in Chinese, folks from APAC can't afford to fly to NA events,
and so on...

Some folks already try to bridge these various subcommunities, which is
fantastic. We need more! It would be great if we could do a
cultural/linguistic exchange between geographies to grow the number of
people who have relationships that straddle both sides.

The trouble is that it's it's tough for an Ambassador with a job and a
family to uproot him/herself to go volunteer on the other side of the
world for 6 months. It's a lot easier for a student to do it; in fact,
there are tons of credit-granting programs for it that are actively
encouraged by our schools. It's called Study Abroad.

What if we used this as an opportunity to expand not just our own
cultural/linguistic horizons, but that of the local Fedora community we
come from, and the one we're going to? I'm not sure what this means or
where it could go, and haven't thought this through that much - but
wanted to toss it out there for feedback/thoughts/criticism.

Also, what *other* resources do students have access to that most
Ambassadors do not? Access to facilities is the only other thing that
comes to mind right now.

Just braindumping. :)
