Hi
The lack of courage may be just the starting trouble. Initially I also had problems of same kind. To know the actual power of the OS you install it into your PC. There are plans of releasing the new Fedora 19 with Cinnamon desktop as default desktop environment. I personally use Fedora 17 with Gnome3 which I feel is pretty easy to use.

As per my knowledge one of the main diference between distrbutions is the view point on how to use the free software in them. In Fedora, you have to manually add third party repos in order to get the proprietary softwares, plugins etc. And there is a great community that you could get support from.

Subject: [fedora-classroom] Will fedora do for a novice new end user.

Hello Sir & Dear Friends,
Namaskar. I am from India. I am an occasional user of desktop computer, not having any technical knowledge.
Although I am a big fan of Linux, I use msWindows to be in the mass, to get timely assistance/help & of course,
getting my software problem repaired easily. I tried different linux distributions on live CDs and liked Linux Mint & Ubuntu the most.
Being dependent on Graphic User Interface (point and click), I liked Gnome2, Mate and  the most. GNOME 3 and above
are really cumbersome for me.
I could not have the courage to fully install a Linux distribution on my PC.Once I did install Ubuntu but had to come back to WindowsXp
due to not having any support from my family/friends here. Surprisingly some of Govt.or other institutions do encourage use of Microsoft
products.
I am eager to know if fedora comes with Cinnamon environment. If you assess my user ability do you feel fedora is suitable for me?
Thank you for listening to me.

Yours sincerely,
