FC3 kein Sound / Crystal CS4614

unter Fedora Core 3 funktioniert die Sound-Karte nicht.

Ich habe Fedora Core 3 neu installiert, es war kein Update. Auf dem
Mainboard befindet sich ein onboard Sound-Chip welcher im BIOS
deaktiviert ist. Mit 'lspci' sieht man ihn nicht.
Der Test-Sound im KDE-Kontrollzentrum funktioniert nicht.
Ist die Zeile "remove snd-cs46xx" in der Datei modprobe.conf richtig?
Im KDE Kontrollzentrum kann ich unter "Hardware" OSS oder ALSA usw.
auswählen. Welche von den beiden ist aktuell bzw. sollte werwendet werden?
Hoffe auf einen guten Tip. Danke.

Hallo!
Gerade lese ich, dass die erste Test-Version von FC4 veröffentlicht
wurde. Dabei habe ich mich folgendes gefragt: Ist ein FC_3_ mit allen
Updates (yum update) eigentlich das gleiche wie das dann
verröffentliche FC4? Sprich, wer von einem Jahr FC1 installiert hat
und immer alle Updates eingespielt hat, ist der dann auch bei FC4
angekommen, oder unterschieden sich die Core-Releases dann doch noch
(z.B. durch die Kernelversion)?

FC3-Installation bootet nicht mehr

Hallo!
Jetzt ist es mir schon zum zweiten Mal passiert, dass eine FC3-
Installation nicht mehr booten möchte. Als blutiger Anfänger tue ich
mich schwer andere Lösungsmöglichkeiten als die Neuinstallation zu
finden...
Ich habe kürzlich ein Update per yum durchgeführt. Danach ist das
System allerdings mehrmals problemlos neugestartet. Das System hängt
bei der Meldung "Stelle den Rechnernamen ein". X.org ist also schon
gestartet und scheidet damit als Fehlerquelle aus. Maus und Tastatur
reagieren nicht mehr, ich kann also auch nicht auf eine Konsole
wechseln und komme nur noch per Resetknopf weiter. Ich habe dann das
Rescuesystem von CD gestartet, um einen Blick in die Logdateien zu
werden. Komischerweise finde ich dort nur Meldungen vom
Herunterfahren des Systems und nicht etwa Hinweise auf Fehler beim
letzten Bootversuch (so in boot.log und messages). Die einzige
auffällige Meldung ist dann auch, dass der lockd (NFS) nicht
heruntergefahren werden konnte. Könnte das ein Hinweis auf Fehler in
der Netzwerkkonfiguration sein (die ich allerdings nicht verändert
habe)? Tja, und dann bin ich auch schon am Ende mit meinem Latein. Da
eine Neuinstallation im Grunde einer Kapitulation gleich kommt würde
ich mich über den einen oder anderen Lösungsansatz freuen!

ISO auf Solid State Disk 'brennen'

Hallo Gruppe,
ich möchte einen Diskless Client für einen Terminal Server bauen. Das
erstellen eines Boot Iso's klappt soweit, wenn ich es auf CD ROM
brenne. Nun will ich aber statt des CD ROMs einen Flash Speicher als
Festplatten Ersatz nehmen. Ich weiss, dann ist er nicht mehr diskless
;-) Aber als 'Platte' kommt ein 32 MB Flash Modul zum Einsatz, dass
sich wie eine IDE Platte verhält.
Meine Frage lautet nun, wie 'brenne' ich das ISO Image statt auf CD
auf die Flash Festplatte?

EtherJet an IBM 770x

Hallo
Ich habe ein Ibm 770x Notebook mit einer EtherJet PCMCIA Karte. Nur
leider bekomme ich den Laptop nicht an das Netz. Eine Karte wird mir in
der Netzwerk Konfiguration nicht angezeigt.
Also habe ich versucht das ganze selber zu konfigurieren. Gemäss Goggel
ist die Etherjet eine Xircom. und die habe ich auch eingegeben. Mit
folgendem Resultat:
/sbin/adsl-start: line 215: 1335 terminated
$connect "S@" >/dev/null 2>&1
hat jemand eine Idee, oder kann mir jemand eine Karte empfehlen die läuft?

USB-Stick

Hallo,
ist es eigentlich möglich, bzw. hats schon jemand gemacht. FC3 auf einem 1 GB USB-Stick zu installieren, bootfähig?
Gibts da irgendwo ne Anleitung?
Ich hab FC2 im Textmodus auf einen alten Rechner am Laufen, aber da wurden schon 1,5 GB installiert.
