Want to help pick the F14 Release Slogan?
by Robyn Bergeron
We need a slogan for the F14 release. A release slogan is a short
call-to-action that fits the artwork theme from Design, found at
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/F14_release_slogan#Themes. (F13's
slogan was "Rock it.")
If you are interested in suggesting ideas for the release slogan,
please take a look at the Release Slogan SOP, and the criteria for
selection, at https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Release_slogan_SOP. The
slogan must be:
* short (1-3 words)
* a call to action
* positive
It should reinforce that Fedora helps the user achieve something
great. It should also reflect some of ideas and themes found in the
release artwork, and, if possible, also touch upon the Four
Foundations (https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Foundations).
Please put your slogan ideas here:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/F14_release_slogan#New_slogan_ideas
The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, August 17, at 21:00 UTC,
which is our next Marketing meeting
(https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Marketing_meetings). We'll be
discussing submissions there, and then the FPL, Mo Duffy, and the
Marketing team lead (that's me!) will take that input and select the
final slogan on Wednesday, August 18. Let me know if you have any
questions, comments, or concerns -- and let the wiki table know if you
have any ideas!
Cheers,
-Robyn

Hello team,
Design team have recently chosen Cantarell for body text.
I have packaged Cantarell fonts for Fedora and am looking for review [1].
I noticed Dave Crossland is part of SIG Fonts so, if interested, he can
be co-maintainer
of abattis-cantarell-fonts once it passed the review.

Reminder: Design Team meeting today (2010 Aug 10)!
by Ian Weller
Hi everybody!
This is a reminder that our weekly IRC meeting is at 19:00 UTC today
(Aug 10) in #fedora-design on irc.freenode.net. Mo is having fun at
LinuxCon so I'm stepping in to lead the meeting today.
On the agenda:
- Schedule reminders
- feedback period on alpha wallpaper ends 17 Aug.
- supplemental wallpaper submission period ends 19 Aug.
- need to iterate F14 wallpaper design so we can start working on the
splashes and banners.
- any other F14 artwork ideas?
- Branding fonts project: status report from everybody
- Fedora website updates
- UX projects / liveusb creator and installer UI
- https://fedorahosted.org/design-team/ticket/147
- https://fedorahosted.org/design-team/ticket/146
- Open floor
We'll try to keep the meeting to about an hour. I'll mostly be here just
for organizational purposes because I am not as well educated on most of
the above issues as I should be, so if nobody's around to talk about
them we'll just skip 'em. :)
If you'd like to make changes to this agenda, just reply to the email.
Below is a time conversion listing for folks who participated in the
meeting time selection process:
Luya: 12 PM
Tatica: 3 PM
Martha: 3 PM
Máirín: 3 PM
Onyeibo: 8 PM
fabsh: 9 PM

Meeting on Tuesday?
by Máirín Duffy
Hi folks,
I'm going to be at LinuxCon in Boston next week and I'm not sure how well I'll be able to make the weekly design team meeting.
I was wondering if anybody would be willing to lead the meeting in my absence?
Thanks,
~m

Thanks Jef! I haven't contacted anyone else about it. Although I would
love to share it with the gnome-shell team (probably the design team).
Liam and I just threw it together last night, and it's pretty rough
right now, so I thought I'd share it here and see if I could get it
tested a bit more. ;) (Honestly, I could see it as the basis of a theme
switcher/selector extension, but that's too ambitious for me atm :))

I've had trouble building gnome-shell lately as well. Have you tried
installing the gnome-shell package? I found out last night that there is
a package for it in the repos. I'm not sure how recent it is, but it
should be fine for theme testing.
When I get a chance, I'll definitely get in touch with the gnome-shell
team, because I also think we should help with documenting the
gnome-shell theming process. We really need documentation on available
selectors, and what parts of the shell they correspond with; as well as
the non-standard css styles the shell supports. You can figure a good
bit of it out between the included css file and plain trial and error,
but let's only have to do that once ;)

need logo to produce Fedora Ballons for events
by Ben Williams
We are wanting to produce some ballons for events in which ambassadors
are attending.
http://www.fastballoons.com/main.php?type=cat&catid=4
we are thinking 12" ballon Perl White with blue ink
since this media (and vender) only seem to support mono printing this
could be a problem with the trademark guidelines.
What can we do to make these happen to help support Fedora at shows?
