system-config-kickstart icon draft
by Danny Stieben
Hello everyone,
I've already gone ahead and taken one of the tasks in the design service
queue and made a draft. I'm pretty happy with the results, but I'm
looking to see if you guys are ok with how it looks and if it would fit
with the other icons (as the task requests).
Anyways, it's attached, so go have a look, and I hope to get some
feedback. :)

Introduction
by Danny Stieben
Hello everyone!
My name is Danny Stieben. I live near Dallas, Texas, USA, and I'm
currently a junior in high school. I speak English and German, and I'm
in my fourth year of high school Spanish. Right now I'm just an
Ambassador, but I'm hoping to be a part of the Translation and Design teams.
I have a slight dilemma because although I enjoy creating art using
tools just as GIMP, hand-drawn artwork is definitely not my thing.
However, that hasn't been any hindrance because most people seem to
enjoy the artwork that I create. Oh! Before I go off topic, I guess I
would describe myself as a free-lance GIMP artist who for the past two
or three years made graphics for self-enjoyment or at the request of
friends.
I'm interested in all forms of graphics, and have a couple reasons for
wanting to join the design team. I've always admired the artwork that
has been put out by Fedora, and hope I can have a relationship with the
team. I get to improve myself based on the art of others, and I can
create artwork as well or be a source of ideas that others can improve.
I've also had ideas that concerned the "Fedora Insight" project, but I
lost touch with what's going on in that area (this might help Máirín
remember who I am :P).
That's about it, really. If you have any questions, please feel free to
email me. Also, if you would like to see some examples of my work (if I
can find them ;), also send me an email. I don't feel comfortable
clogging the mailing list with my attachments just yet. :)

Fedora 15 Wallpaper -- Package Ready but Problems Ahead
by Martin Sourada
Hi all,
the F15 wallpaper package is all ready and sound (it even has a
subpackage to add the wallpaper to xfce backdrops chooser for the first
time!) however there seems to be some issue with acceptence. I haven't
read the logs from yesterday's (Feb 09) meeting (will there be a Mo
summary?) but from a glance around the part where my nick was
mentioned I gathered gnome guys weren't happy with it...
Sideways I was engaged in conversation with Rex Dieter and Kevin Kofler
about the new defaults and they aren't happy with it (too Gnomish) as
well and as a result they switched for now to kde shipped default
wallpaper for KDE [1]...
XFCE, LXDE and others that
use /usr/share/backgrounds/default.png should use it now as default.
To summarize, it seems very unlikely that our wallpaper will be present
on desktop and KDE spins for Alpha which is very unfortunate to us. I'm
not sure if any discussion about this came to a conclusion in the irc
meeting and if so, please enlighten me.
So the question posed is: what to do with this situation?
Martin

Hi! (introductory email)
by Monika Umba
Hi!
I am a freelance designer/animator/artworker. I studied Animation and
Illustration at Cambridge School of Art (UK) and after graduation I also worked
there as an animation assistant. I have recently moved to Swindon, UK and apart
from continuing my freelance job I am looking for opportunities to further
develop my skills and gain invaluable 'in the business' experience. I have heard
about Feodra and thought it would be great to work on projects for this
innovative and reputable company.
I could be useful making animations/editing videos, designing
artwork/logos/webistes/brochures etc.
I use the following software:
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Illustrator
Adobe After Effects
Adobe Flash
Corel Painter
Maya
Thanks!
Monika

Need help with artwork for Fedora Robotics Suite
by Hedayat Vatankhah
Dear design team!
I'm a member of Fedora Robotics SIG. As you might already know, we are
going to provide Fedora Robotics Suite[1] as a Fedora 15 feature. The
goal of this suite is to make Fedora a great platform for people who are
actively working in Robotics field and also a great platform for
learning robotics. We are also planning on providing a Robotics LiveDVD.
As a part of this work, we need some artwork for the webpages, some
icons and at last for Anaconda (the last one is only needed for the
LiveDVD which follows). And I think you can guess how good is our team
in arts! ;)
Because of this, we decided to contact you. It would be great if you can
help us with some needed artwork, so that we can provide a more polished
look at the end.
Our current requirements are:
* Logo for the Robotics Suite
* Banner for Robotics Suite to be used on our webpages
* Icons for Player utilities and Stage (some robotics
applications)(They're not essential to the robotics suite effort, but
would be nice to have)
* Anaconda and some logo contents, to provide a more customized look for
the LiveDVD (again, not necessary with Robotics Suite feature effort;
but appreciated)
Any help with the above is highly appreciated. :)
Thanks,
Hedayat

Hello
by Brodie McPharlin
Hi,
I can design 2D graphics using GIMP and I also have experience with
Blender. I like minimal design, and have interests in philosophy and
aesthetics.
I am working on a personal website, and I can imagine myself creating
pixel art and working on interfaces.
I was attracted to Fedora because of its excellent support of multimedia
applications and its efficient interface.
Let me know if there is a project for me.

Trac tickets email notification
by Jef van Schendel
Hey all,
To me, our Trac ticket queue feels really disconnected from the rest
of our work. It's like a completely separate space that nobody keeps
track of. It's all out there in the open, which is great and all, but
we hardly pay attention to it. Or at least, I know I don't. :)
For instance there are a bunch of new tickets that don't have any
comments yet, like this one [1], started by jsmith two months ago.
We've got two main ways to keep track of new tickets: we can either
check the Trac page every day or get notified on IRC. The first one is
boring, slow and clunky. The second one relies on people being present
in the channel at the exact time a ticket is created.
However I believe there are a couple of teams who get new tickets
reported to their mailing list. I think Marketing is one of these? Can
we start using the same function? I don't want new tickets to be
forgotten and leave the reporters without so much as a response.

Hey,
There isn't a lot to do at the moment. It's just comps for the group.
Once this is done, and the new design team suite cd is compiled, I'm
sure there'll be quite a bit to do :)
Thanks!
