Fedora Magazine images
by Ryan Lerch
Hi all,
Just a heads up that there are now a few tickets open in the
fedora-magazine-images pagure repo that are open for folks if they want to
have a go at one of the upcoming featured images for Fedora Magazine.
The README in the repo has an outline of the format that we need the images
in, so feel free to jump in and have a go at one or two :)

Self-Introduction: Lucious Daniels Jr.
by Lucious Daniels Jr
Greetings everyone!
My name is Lucious Daniels Jr. and I would like to help contribute to the
Fedora project. A little background about myself, I have been using Linux
about six years and I have enjoyed the freedom and fun it has brought to my
computing experience. I studied computer art (3D/Gaming) in college and
that's also where I started getting into computer hardware and custom
building. After having trouble landing a job in the art field, I switched
my focus more to the IT/technical route. Today I have a system
administration position (in a Windows environment) for a county government.
I'm recently Linux+ certified so maybe there's a Linux position in my
future. I still enjoy using graphic software like Gimp and Inkscape. I've
even used them at work, from time to time, for special projects. Joining
the Design Team would give me the opportunity to improve my skills with the
open-source graphical tools and give back to Fedora. Perhaps badges would
be a good place to start.
My history with Fedora is rather short, but I have found it to be a nice
blend of stability vs. leading edge. I find the community knowledgeable and
welcoming. Most of my Linux experience is with the Debian/Ubuntu base, so
it's been fun learning RedHat/Centos way of things.

Summary of Today's Meeting
by Máirín Duffy
Hi folks,
A quick high-level summary, with the meeting link at the end -
1) We need to migrate to pagure by February 2017. We talked about creating new tickets in pagure from here on out (I made http://pagure.io/design for us) but on second thought let's hold on that - I want people to be able to get awarded badges for their ticket work and that's not hooked up right now. I will work on getting our tickets migrated over and the badges pointed at pagure before we formally move. (riecatnor is still deciding if badges should be part of our ticket queue or a separate one - if you have ideas talk to her!)
2) We have a *lot* of open tickets for folks to grab now, which is a nice turn of events from the usual:
art/design
=========
ticket #471 (fudcon phnom Penh t-shirt design) is open for someone to work on it! deadline is mid oct. (mizmo, 14:22:08)
ticket #469 (SEA translation challenge t-shirt design) is open for someone to work on it! deadline is feb 2017 (mizmo, 14:23:07)
ticket #467 (libseccomp logo design) is open for someone to work on it! deadline is flexible. (mizmo, 14:26:20)
ticket #448 (banners for fedora magazine and comm blog) is open for someone to work on it! deadline is flexible. (mizmo, 14:42:33)
ticket #421 (official font / presentation templates update/referesh) is open for someone to take on! (mizmo, 14:50:59)
UX
===
ticket #374 (fedmenu UX) is an open ticket that would be good for someone interested in UX to take on. (mizmo, 14:57:17)
ticket #279 (this week in fedora ux design) is open and a good ticket for someone interested in ux to take on (mizmo, 14:59:36)
3) We got through a *lot* of ticket triage. We went through ALL of the aging tickets queue (https://fedorahosted.org/design-team/query?status=new&status=assigned&sta...)
My suggestion for the next (APAC) meeting would be to start triage with these ones:
- the needs response queue (https://fedorahosted.org/design-team/report/11)
- the untriaged queue (https://fedorahosted.org/design-team/report/9)
Okay, full meeting minutes link here:

Cheers,

Fedora 25 Official Wallpaper
by Mary Shakshober
Hi all,
I'm just starting this thread because I'm starting to work on the default F25 wallpaper (I wasn't sure if this specific conversation fit into any of the prexisting conversations). I know that the general inspiration for this wallpaper should be a progressive innovator/ inventor whose name begins with "A". After much research, the names that popped up the most frequently that fit our criteria were Archimedes and Richard Arkwright. Here's a *very* brief bio on each of them as well as what I would use as a visual inspiration for the wallpaper:
Archimedes: a mathematician, involved in the invention/ development of levers and pulleys, invented the Archimedean screw --> abstract spiralized screw/ implying motion
Arkwright: the debated 'father of industrial revolution", pioneer in the spinning industry --> wheel- inspired wallpaper
I will be posting more specifics to my design ideas as well as links to wallpaper drafts for you all to look at and provide feedback on.
Thanks and cheers to Fedora 25 *clinks glasses*!

FUDCON APAC Call for Papers
by S.Kemter
FUDCON APAC Call for Papers
FUDCon is the Fedora Users and Developers Conference, a major free software
event held in various regions around the world, usually annually per region.
FUDCon is a combination of sessions, talks, workshops, and hackfests in
which project participants can work on specific initiatives.
FUDCon is always free to attend for anyone. For 2016 the FUDCon for the
APAC region will be in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. It will be held at Norton
University (NU) Phnom Penh from 04. to 06. November 2016. The event happens
synchronized with the BarCamp Phnom Penh/ASEAN, the biggest technology
oriented event in Cambodia and one of the biggest in the region. With 4.000
registered visitors.
We looking for...
FUDCon APAC 2016 now searches for contributions in form of talks,
hackfests, workshops and hands-on.
This years edition will be more user oriented therefor we looking for
articles which describe what you can do with free software and Fedora in
particular and hands-on how to begin/start particular things in or with
Fedora and/or Free Software. We welcoming contributions who help users to
migrate to Free Software, make their first steps in a particular
programming language or using and contributing to Fedora. We also looking
for contributions, who show exciting developments in the Free Software and
Fedora world. Addional there will be one day with slots for things which
could be improved in Fedora or in Fedora APAC in particular.
As FUDCon is co-located with other events and has an exhibition area,
Fedora should be also part of this. We would like to have not just an
static booth and would like if speakers also submit short presentations,
that can be hold in the exhibition area.
Submission and Registration
You can submit your ideas for talks, workshops and hackfests to the
following form [0].
As FUDCon is always free to attend for anyone, you can register with this
formular [1], an important note the budget for travel sponsoring is limited
and we cant sponsor everybody, so there will be an selection process. For
the people who submit papers, please use also the registration formular, as
it gives us different information as the formular for the submissions.
Deadlines
The deadline for submissions will be the 25. of September 2016 , speakers
will be informed until 5. of October 2016.
