Hello everyone, Let me, first of all introduce myself. I am pursuing my bachelor degree in engineering college under Information Technology. I rely on Open Source for all my computer related works. I have great interest in banner making, image editing, logo making, making designs etc. I have made some banners and landing pages for some live websites. In addition to this, I have also made a software application in django. Some of my work is listed below : http://ukiericoncretecongress.com/ http://gndec.ac.in/~igs/ldh/ https://github.com/sandeepmadaan
I got to know that to be part of OPW, I will need to contribute a 'home work' as a part of my application. Likewise I will be a member of Fedora-Design team and an Open Source Contributor as well. That's really great. I have subscribed the mailing list, got a Fedora Account. Now what I want to do is complete a task to be a part of Fedora-design team. I am interested in doing following task :
https://fedorahosted.org/design-team/ticket/123
See if it is still available to work on. If yes also tell, what type of banner should I design, just an idea will be sufficient. If no, assign me task of your choice. Will be really great full to hear from you. Thank you.
Hi Sandeep!
That ticket does indeed look to be a good starting one!
I have removed the current assignee, as there has not been any progress on it for a while.
FYI, here is a banner that was recently completed, just so you know the style and format that we are aiming for these days. https://fedorahosted.org/design-team/ticket/242
Also, if you havent seen it, this is the page that covers how we use the fedora logo, and the fonts that we use. http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Logo/UsageGuidelines
If you have any questions, or need any help making the banner in Inkscape, most of us hang out in the chatroom #fedora-design on the IRC network freenode.
cheers, ryanlerch

I have created a banner for this ticket. Please give your feedback on this.
Nice work sandeep!
Would you be able to upload that and the SVG as well to the ticket?
It is just easier for us to track these files and the feedback in the ticket!
cheers, ryanlerch

For the banner design,
our newer banners are all trying to be similar in style to the new cloud one: https://fedorahosted.org/design-team/ticket/242
Your first design is close, but just needs a few tweaks to bring it up to the newer style:
1. The font we use for these banners is "Comfortaa". Further details on this font is available on the logo usage guidelines wiki page.
2. I like the globe icon, as is is similar in style to the main ambassadors banner. However, we need to differentiate this banner from the main one a bit more. Maybe a book or something similar to make it more "campus" or "university" like. (Just an idea, feel free to come up with better ideas :) )

That's indeed a very good idea. I will make some changes and show you the updated one.

I have made all the changes and have also replied on the ticket : https://fedorahosted.org/design-team/ticket/123#comment:4
Waiting for your comments.
Also please tell me if I am eligible for OPW, because tomorrow is the last date to submit proposal.
