Submission policy
by Leonard den Ottolander
Hi,
A question regarding submission policy
(http://www.fedora.us/wiki/PackageSubmissionQAPolicy):
Item 4: Why does one need to rpm --resign instead of rpmbuild --sign,
and why as a different user? Especially the latter puzzles me.
I think it's a good idea to also add this explanation to that page.
Leonard.

qt-3.3.2-10 breaks KXDocker
by Felipe Alfaro Solana
Hi!
KXDocker is a Mac OS X-like docker for KDE that is able to track down
which windows are being created and destroyed in order to include them
in the docker, much like a taskbar.
Since I upgraded to qt-3.2.2-10, KXDocker is no longer able to track
down when a new window is created or an existing one is destroyed (in
order to include or remove it in the docker). Reverting back to qt-
3.2.2-7 solves the problem.
Before I'm submitting a bugzilla report, I just wanted to know if the
last changes to qt are known to break some existing applications.
PS: KXDocker can be downloaded from:

Fedora Core 3
by Stephen Smoogen
1) A better inclusion method of extras.
2) A removal of older stuff to extras.
3) A replicable build system so that others could test/build things
outside of RH but know that it was 'similar' enough.
4) Kerberos enabled DHCP ;).

Debuginfo + addr2line
by Mike Perry
Hey, I'm working on building symbol resolution into my malloc
debugger (NJAMD), and I was wondering if anyone had any information on
how debuginfo files are built. I'm currently using addr2line to look
up symbols for me, but it seems as though the mods to support
debuginfo files were only made to gdb, and not to binutils.
So I guess I have two questions:
1. Are there any plans to patch addr2line to support debuginfo files?
2. If not, where can I find information on how these things are
generated/formatted so as to attempt a patch to addr2line myself? I've
scoured the web but seem to be unable to find much of any use.
Thanks,

Huge development kernel rpms
by Sean
Anyone else notice that the binary development kernel RPMs are about 10
times bigger today (almost 100Mb each)? Looks like none of the files are
stripped. Was this intentional or just a hiccup in the build process?

ACPI throttling
by Harald Hoyer
Found no daemon for /proc/acpi/processor/CPU0/throttling,
so I wrote one, which takes the load and the battery status and throttles accordingly.
You can use the initscript to start and stop it automatically.
Use the "-d" option to see debugging output.
