RHGB bug when using fr_CH keyboard.
by Michel MENGIS
Hi there,
Here in swiss we are using fr_CH keyboards. Each time we are installing a
FC4, firstboot runs in FR keyboard layout. So it's difficult to add user at
firstboot.
Here is a little patch to allow rhgb to run in fr_CH keyboard layout when
/etc/sysconfig/keyboard KEYTABLE key is set to fr_CH or fr_CH-latin1.
Why is the "check_for_language" function in main.c splitting by the key "_"?
Best regards,
Michel MENGIS__________________________

'everything' install option in FC5test1
by Marius Andreiana
Hi,
Please see bug
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=174092
It seems that with Everything install option gone in FC5 test1, one
cannot install all packages from CD. I'm still downloading it so I
cannot test by myself yet, but Jeremy's reply suggests it won't be added
back (how are the package groups handled with multiple repositories?).
In previous Fedora versions, there was also the Details button for a
package group, is this gone too? There one could have manually selected
additional packages, and this is a solution.
If both these options are gone, then should the packages which aren't
installed by default if all groups are selected be moved to Fedora
Extras?
Thanks,

Strange Gnome menu problem
by n0dalus
Hi,
I wouldn't usually email a list over such a trivial issue, but I have
been pulling my hair out trying to work out why one of the programs in
FC5t1 disappeared from the gnome menu after an update.
/usr/share/applications/gdmflexiserver.desktop exists, but for some
reason it's just being ignored. File permissions on it seem fine, and
there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with the contents.
Copying or moving the file to
/usr/share/applications/gdmflexiserver2.desktop makes it appear in the
menu instantly. Putting it back makes it disappear again. Is there a
config file somewhere with a list of filenames to ignore or something?
Running `strace alacarte` shows that the .desktop file is being opened
and read, but even the menu editor ignores its presence.
I'm sure there's a simple solution. Any ideas would be helpful.
Thanks,
n0dalus.

What about smartpm?
by MJang
Folks,
With all the talk about pup replacing up2date on FC5, and lots of people
trying yumex and wondering about upgrades to system-config-packages, I
was wondering about the Smart Package Manager. http://labix.org/smart
A couple of months ago, I was under the impression that all the distros
were moving in that direction, as Smartpm can handle upgrades to both
RPMs and DEBs and can work from all kinds of repositories (apt, yum,
urpmi, slack, etc.). Is Smartpm still under consideration for FC5?
Thanks,
Mike

kernel bad locking
by Erwin Rol
Hey all,
Since kernel > 2.6.14-1.1709_FC5 (including 2.6.14-1.1719_FC5) I get the
following kernel panic when booting;
Starting udev: [OK]
Initializing hardware... Kernel panic - not syncing: bad locking
This is on a x86_64 machine in 64bit mode, the last kernel that works OK
is 2.6.14-1.1709_FC5 Any idea what the problem might be ?
