Customize Rescue CD
by Patricio A. Bruna
hi,
how can i customize de rescue enviroment of Fedora, i need to add a couple of software to it.
regards.
PS: Anyone knows how can i build a live cd with more that one distro? for example, fedora 2 rescue and fedora 3 rescue, they have diferents kernels, so the mkfs.ext3 has diferent formats.

With GL based desktops, how relevant in screen resolution?
by Rodd Clarkson
(These aren't completely new thoughts, I've heard them discussed before,
but I thought that with the advent of a GL based desktop for Fedora it
might be interesting to have this discussion.)
How relevant is screen resolution now that my desktop is now GL based.
For example, while screen resolutions used to be important regarding the
number of pixels on the screen, I can't help but wonder why resizing a
screen should be based on pixels anymore.
For example, rather than having to pick a new resolution to make my
desktop (fonts, titlebars, etc.) look bigger or smaller, couldn't we now
just have a slider that makes the desktop appear bigger or smaller?
Another example. (This is what got me thinking about this). If I've
got an application that works at a particular size (say 800x600 in the
old measure) and I want it a different size, what's stopping us from
being able to proportionally re-size a window to make it smaller or
larger? This might be useful for games, or if you want to resize a
mozilla window to make the fonts larger, but keep the layout
proportional including images.
What do people think? Is this just madness, or are we very close to
being able to do this sort of thing.
R.

python-kid 0.9.4 warning
by Konstantin Ryabitsev
A small warning for those who use kidc to pre-compile kid templates.
Python-kid 0.9.4 is about to hit extras, and here's a warning from

Due to optimizations in kid.template_util, Kid 0.9.3 templates need to
be re-compiled in order to run with Kid 0.9.4.
Caveat coder.

how can i add a patch to kernel-2.6.spec
by Jörn Rink
Hi,
i want to add a patch for me to the kernel-2.6.spec file and recompile
the kernel.
I have downloaded the kernel source, install it and i put the
patch to the $RPMBUILD/SOURCE directory.
In the spec file there are Patch number with patches behind.
When i add a new number and my patch, it is ignored by rpmbuild -bp.
But there is also no error msg.
I found no hint where the Patch Numbers are defined, but when i comment
out, eg Patch4, i get an error msg.
So, how can i add a patch, or where are the numbers defined?
I want to add the linux phc patch (undervolting my thinkpad t43)
patching, configuring and compiling works, but i have to patch it
manually in the $RPMBUILD/BUILD directory.
Thanks
