rhgb hangs
by Richard Hally
Has anyone run into the problem where booting with rhgb hangs the boot
process at the point where X tries to start (to display the rhgb) and
all you get is the large "X" in the middle of the screen?
Ctrl-alt-backspace can be used to kill X and the boot continues. X
starts normally later in the boot sequence.
This is on a fully updated rawhide system.

Recent rawhide updates seem to have broken Gauche
by Jason L Tibbitts III
I'm reviewing the Gauche scheme compiler
(https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=188168) and
today after updating my rawhide mirror I found that the package that
built yesterday no longer builds. I last updated yesterday, so I
think it might be the recent glibc-kernheaders update. It's kind of
hard to tell; a lot has changed recently. I've attached a complete
failed build log to the above bug; here's where it starts to go off:

How should i file this prelink hiccup?
by Jef Spaleta
Summary:
prelink is not operating on firefox-bin
this seems to be because the libraries libmozjs.so and libxpcom.so are
not in the standard linking path. So when prelink goes to prelink
firefox-bin it gets confused and aborts.
Now this isnt a problem for normal firefox operation because the
firefox shell script redefines where libraries are being looked for.
But that shell trickery seems to be confusing the default prelinking.
Don't we weant firefox-bin to be prelinked like other binaries? If
the answer is yes, how do we adjust things so the nightly prelink
script does its job on firefox-bin and mozilla-bin?
And how exactly do i file this issue in bugzilla?

Email list down?
by Mike Chambers
I don't seem to be getting any emails from any Fedora list, maybe few
more. So I am asking if any or all of them are down or not?

firefox miniicon has extra black pixels
by Leo
Dear all,
I attach two screenshots of firefox in SuSE 9.3 and FC5. It seems the
mini icon of firefox in FC5 has an ugly black line along the bottom and
right-hand side of the icon.
I think this might be a very small bug.

Just happened again and the backtrace looks similar to the one above. If I
can do something to provide better information to debug this please tell me.

Please try to open that many tcp connections between two IPs and tell me
if it works! Finding out in which way our software opens the sockets
would be enough work for two persons for at least two days. It's old
software we try to get running on a new system. Very (very very) old
sources! ;)
Some guy told me that maybe iptables is the cause of this problem. You
think he's right? We have to verify that. May take a few days since the
collegue responsible for this isn't in the office right now. Just that
much about "it's urgent" (my team leader's definition). *laugh*
Thanks for your interest in this problem. I'll keep you up to date.

ipw3945 packaging
by Jon Escombe
I've been looking at what would be involved in packaging the Intel 3945 wireless
driver. The biggest obstacle appears to be the requirement for updated ieee80211
files[1]. Are there any plans to merge these updates into the FC5 kernel? And,
if so, any plans for a ipw3945 driver package from Fedora?
Note I am talking about the open source driver only - the firmware and
regulatory daemon would of course still be out of bounds for Fedora.
Regards,
Jon.
[1] ATrpms is the only 3rd party repo with a full package at the moment, and
they've done it by replacing the shipped ieee80211 kernel modules - something
that the 'better behaved' 3rd party repositories won't do...
