by Thomas Chung
Currently Fedora News Project[1] is looking for two or more writers
for up-coming-issue of Fedora Weekly News.
Selected writers are expected to pick out the several major topics
discussed in that week from following mailing lists and summarized
them in a few paragraph.:
* Development Section: fedora-devel-list, fedora-extras-list and
fedora-maintainers-list
* Documentation Section: fedora-docs-list
* Events and Meetings: fedora-ambassadors-list and fedora-marketing-list
These paragraphs will be edited by our editors and eventually
published in our next issue of Fedora Weekly News.

Rawhide will be a bit late today...
by Jesse Keating
As expected, something blew up a bit in the rawhide compose process now that
we've unfroze. However HOW it blew up was completely unexpected, but very
easy to recover from. Rawhide is composing again and should see the light of
day in a few hours.

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=227893 (and a bunch
of dupes), and also in your inbox on 19th March, with subject
"sysfs use-after-free in 2.6.21-rc"

Fedora rawhide -- basically Linus' HEAD. We've been seeing it ever since
we enabled CONFIG_SYSFS_DEPRECATED about 2.6.20-rc6-git1.
For the moment I've committed a hack to disable the extra variables in
uevents, since that wasn't why we turned SYSFS_DEPRECATED on again
anyway. It's not a fix though.

Presto 0.3.0
by Jonathan Dieter
I've just finished yum-presto-0.3.0. The major difference between it
and 0.2.9 is that presto will now attempt to download the full rpm if it
is unable to rebuild it from the deltarpm.
This involved a lot of new code, so you may run into some bugs, but it
should be much faster than 0.2.9 when checking deltarpms.

When you drop a subpackage, please remember to add proper
Obsoletes/Provides to the main package so that the subpackage is
properly removed with the next update.
E.g., for your viewvc changes something like the following would
suffice:
Obsoletes: %{name}-selinux < 1.0.3-12%{?dist}
Provides: %{name}-selinux = 1.0.3-12%{?dist}
Thanks.

serial port kernel configuration problem for PowerMacs
by Joseph Sacco
There is a well known device number contention bug
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=155895
that prevents serial ports on PowerMacs from functioning when 8250
support is built directly into the kernel.
While we wait [forever???] for LANANA to assign a set of device numbers
for pmac_zlog that do not conflict with those assigned to the 8250,
there is a simple workaround:
build 8250 support as a loadable module:
#
# Serial drivers
#
CONFIG_SERIAL_8250=m
CONFIG_SERIAL_8250_PCI=m
CONFIG_SERIAL_8250_PNP=m
I don't know of any platform that has both 8250 and pmac_zilog serial
ports so this should be a painless workaround.
