I think "Everything" isn't descriptive enough, and "Fedora" without
any qualifiers isn't enough either.
My recommendation :
Fedora 7 Base Install ( CD or DVD )
Fedora 7 Base Live CD ( also installable )
Fedora 7 KDE Live CD ( also installable )
Fedora 7 Inclusive Repository ( network Installable )
The "Base" spin is what all other spins are based on, but it is not a
"basic" installation.
I think the old word "Core" had too many connotations about how small
the installation was. The term "Base" in some ways is similar to the
term "Core" , but does not seem to indicate "small."
The word "Everything" is too nebulous for me. Maybe "Inclusive" is
not the best term either, but it gets closer to what I think
describes that repo.
Sorry, the term "Prime" only makes me think of a specific member of
the Transformers.
Now back to your regularly scheduled programming . . .

FESCo Meeting Summary for 2007-04-26
by Brian Pepple
=== Members Present ===
* Brian Pepple (bpepple)
* Jason Tibbitts (tibbs)
* Rex Dieter (rdieter)
* Jesse Keating (f13)
* Christian Iseli (c4chris)
* Toshio Kuratomi (abadger1999)
* Josh Boyer (jwb)
* Jeremy Katz (jeremy)
* Bill Nottingham (notting)
* Warren Togami (warren)
=== Members Absent ===
* Dennis Gilmore (dgilmore)
* Kevin Fenzi (nirik)
* Tom Callaway (spot)
=== Summary ===
== FESCo Meeting Minutes ==
* warren will look at a bot to post irc logs from the meeting to a
web directory, and then we will only be posting the summaries to
the wiki.
== Policies Updating ==
* c4chris, tibbs, and bpepple will start fixing policies that have
inconsistencies due to the merging of Core & Extras.
== Sub-Groups Reporting to FESCo ==
* Discussed how to be more efficient in handling of reporting from
sub-groups. If a sub-groups provides a summary 24-hours prior to
the FESCo meeting, the FESCo chair will just ask if there are
"any objection to this week's report of <group> at <url>". The
consensus was that there was no need to go over items that
people didn't object to.
* Still needs to decide procedure for summaries from groups that
can't get a summary to FESCo in time. bpepple sent an e-mail to
the mailing list to get input on how folks would like to handle
this.

F7T4 install problems on VMware...
by Thomas M Steenholdt
Hi there...
I've been trying to install F7T4 on VMware workstation 6 (RC) but haven
been successful yet. Have tried both i386 and x86_64 and the same thing
happens every time. When anaconda has built dependencies and is ready to
proceed, anaconda bails, leaving a python backtrace on the screen. I
have the option to save the debug info to a floppy, but that doesn't
work either.
I just wanted to know if this is a known issue that I've missed. Perhaps
a problem with the not-yet-final VMware Workstation 6 or if I need to
file a bug.

Yum-presto 0.3.10
by Jonathan Dieter
Just a quick note to say yum-presto 0.3.10 (which will be the last in
the 0.3 series) is now in the presto repository with some fixes and a
few new issues to deal with. For more information about yum-presto,
check out http://hosted.fedoraproject.org/projects/presto.
First off, the fixes:
* A "*" is added to the repository of a deltarpm'd package in the
package list. There used to be one by the name of the package, but that
screwed up depsolving. It shouldn't cause any problems next to the
repository.
* Yum-presto is now able to validate two packages with the same name but
different arches correctly. This was actually a bug in deltarpm, and
upstream has provided a patch to fix the problem.
I have pushed a new version of deltarpm with the upstream patch to the
presto repository that goes with the new version of yum-presto. I have
also reworked the presto repository so that it should work correctly for
fc6 and devel for the i386 and x86_64 arches. Get the new repo file at
http://www.lesbg.com/jdieter/presto/yum-presto.repo. The old repository
file points to FC6 i386.
I will *not* push the new version to either FC-6 or devel until the new
version of deltarpm has been pushed. I'm also not sure whether the
development freeze applies to presto (as it's *not* being included by
default in F7).
Just a heads up that there are many i386 packages in the x86_64
distribution that will *not* have deltarpms. This is because rpm uses
file-colors to keep the the 32 bit binary from overwriting the 64 bit
binary for any packages that store files in /bin, /usr/bin, /sbin,
and /usr/sbin (and there may be other locations). Deltarpm can't build
the new rpm when these files are missing. I'm not sure what the
long-term solution is (though there seems to be some debate on that on
fedora-maintainers).
The next version of yum-presto will attempt to rebuild files from rpms
kept in the cache, if they're available and may (if I can work out a
good method) make deltas of the repository data. I will also remove the
ability to set presto repositories in the presto.conf file. This
information should be either built into the repomd.xml file or the
repositories' .repo files.

Size does matter!!!
by Rodd Clarkson
Why are the open and save file dialogs so small.
I have a 1920x1200 screen, and yet I have to resize these dialogs each
time they open so I can do complex (he he) tasks like find a file, or
select a folder in which files might be.
The damn dialog is so small I can't see more than 12 letters in a file
name and I can see two places (one of which is Search).
Surely something should be done about this, so who do I nag senseless?

This breaks dependencies of previously released packages.
When taking away a sub-package, don't forget proper "Obsoletes"
(and "Provides" if the pkg content is still available in the renamed
package).

contributing a software through bugzilla
by Anton Kuznetsov
I submitted my software for review through bugzilla in order to
contribute the software to RedHat. A guy who checked the script told me
to fix some problems. I fixed all problems that he mentioned and sent
him new links of the software in the same bug report. I haven't heard
anything from him since April 16. Here is a question: do I need to
submit new links as a new bug report? if no...how long does it usually
take to review the software?
Thanks,
Anton
