Any way to search all .spec files?
by Orion Poplawski
Is there any was to do a grep/search on all of the Fedora .spec files
for a specific release (or devel)? I'd be fine with checking them all
out if there was a way to just the the spec files for a specific release.

SELinux smolt stats
by James Morris
It seems that the SELinux enablement stats are now online -- thanks!
I have a question about what the numbers mean. The current values are:
SELinux Enabled
False 185085 53.3 %
True 162262 46.7 %
for 347347 registered hosts.
Now, the "OS" column include several distros and versions, including FC5,
Centos5 through to current rawhide, with the same number of total hosts.
As the SELinux figures have only been collected since F8, does this mean
that we should calculate "total SELinux enabled" only for:
OS Hosts
F8 130282
F7.x (rawhide) 5517
F8.x (rawhide) 920
----------------------------
136719 (actually providing SELinux stats)
----------------------------
where the percentage enabled is actually thus at least 74% ?

mock 0.9 backport to F7/F8 -- Feb 1
by Michael E Brown
All mock users,
The mock maintainers (Clark, Jesse, me) will upgrade mock in F7/F8 to current 0.9 on/around Feb 1.
The mock 0.9 branch has brewed in rawhide since early Dec, and so far it looks good. The 0.9 branch is now being used on the official build systems, so if there were any major problems, we would expect to have hit them by now.
The *only* difference between 0.8.<latest> and 0.9.<latest> at this point is that we have dropped the old mock setuid wrapper and now use the consolehelper subsystem. For this, you will notice new /etc/pam.d/mock, /etc/consolehelper/mock files which configure mock. The default config is set up to operate exactly the same as the old 0.8 branch: ie. you must be a member of the 'mock' group to run mock. Additionally, with consolehelper comes one new feature: if you are not in the 'mock' group, you will be prompted to enter the root password and it will run. This means you can run mock without worrying about any pre-setup.

Beecrypt retired
by Tomas Mraz
Nobody stepped up to maintain this crypto library which is no longer
used by rpm or anything else in Fedora. So the next logical step is to
retire this package from rawhide (dist-f9).
I will do that tomorrow.

Auto rebuild release bump issue
by Orion Poplawski
For pre-release software, i.e. with a release number starting with "0.",
the auto-rebuild release bump should add a .1 to the end (or bump an
existing number at the end).
In this case I have gdl 0.9-0.pre6.fc9. It got bumped to
0.9-1.pre6.fc9. It should be 0.9-0.pre6.fc9.1.

firewall changes for F-9+
by Thomas Woerner
Hello,
here are the latest changes for system-config-firewall for F-9+:
The usage of --port=<port>:<proto> for lokkit will open up this port and
not a service using this port anymore. To enable a service you have to
use the new --service=<name> option. There are no magic default open
services. You have to open up the services, you want to use. The interim
options --no-X; X in ["ipsec", "mdns", "ipp"] are obsolete now.
To setup a new firewall, you can use the new --default=<name>
configuration option as a start:
server : ssh is enabled
desktop : ipsec, mdns and ipp are enabled
These changes for lokkit also affect the kickstart firewall configuration.
There is an utility to convert existing configurations, which will be
used automatically while updating the package.
Thanks,
Thomas
