Why is X and IPv6 required for autoreconf?
by Steve Grubb
Hi,
I ran across something weird over the holidays. I wanted to do some work on
the audit package and put its srpm on a rawhide machine. The changes I made
required regenerating the configure script by running autoreconf. My rawhide
machine is a laptop which I have hardened since I travel with it. One of the
precautions was disabling IPv6. When I rebuild my package, it dies like this:
make all-recursive

Then I decide, this should not require X at all and reboot to run level 3.
When I compile now, it tries to start the X server when it gets to this

Dia does not work without .la files - BZ 475992
by Huzaifa Sidhpurwala
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Some time ago there was a long thread regarding libtool files which
started with why dia has .la files.
I was unable to respond to that thread since i was travelling at that
time. In the mean time it seems that someone removed the .la files from
dia according to the fedora packaging policy.
However now dia crashes with an error message, i have done some
preliminary investigation ( Ref BZ 475992 ) and it seems that the
source is looking at the la files to determine the libs.
I am going to talk to upstream to see if this behaviour can be changed.
However my question is in case they dis-agree what are the options do we
have?
Do we bring the .la files back so that dia works ?

You invoked livecd creator with --config ks.cfg. The ks.cfg is a kickstart file. It controls how livecd or revisor will build the iso.

Ekiga dependencies
by Basil Mohamed Gohar
After installing Fedora 10 from the LiveCD, I wanted to install Ekiga as
well. I discovered that the dependencies for Ekiga were:
* libopal.so.3.4.2
* provided by opal
* libpt.so.2.4.2
* provided by ptlib
Being file dependencies, yum had to pull in the the files information
from the repositories which took much longer on my slower connection
(512k right now - sympathy cards welcome).
I recall reading before (where, I do not remember) that package
dependencies are better than file ones because fewer repo files are
needed to provide an update.
So, can someone with more knowledge on the issue explain this to me?
Either way, I thought I'd mention it here, hopefully someone with more
knowledge can clarify it to me.

Please read the documentation of the tools you want to use instead of
pestering the mailing list with stupid questions.
Or try using Revisor instead of using livecd-creator directly. What you're
trying to use is not Revisor, it's the command-line livecd-creator tool
(which definitely expects you to know what you're doing). Revisor can be
found in your menu, it's a graphical application. But even when using
Revisor, reading the documentation is definitely a good idea!
