Outage of fedorahosted mailing lists and services
by Stephen John Smoogen
There will be an outage starting at 2012-07-26 16:00 UTC, which will
last approximately 2 hours.
To convert UTC to your local time, take a look at
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Infrastructure/UTCHowto or run:

Intent to take ownership of deprecated package - maradns
by Tomasz Torcz
Hi,
I'd like to take ownership of “maradns” package. It is a small DNS server, which
I do use. I'd like to update version in Fedora to 2.0 branch and continue maintaining it.
maradns was deprecated some time ago. In pkgdb I was able only to take F16 branch. What
should I do to get F18, too?

PyXML package - deprecate it?
by Roman Rakus
Hi all,
looks like PyXML package is deprecated since python itself provides xml
mechanisms.
When you look deeper,
python's xml provides:
"dom", "parsers", "sax", "etree"
and PyXML provides:
'dom', 'marshal', 'parsers', 'sax', 'schema', 'utils', 'xpath', 'xslt'
So, PyXML duplicates dom, parsers and sax (and looks like python's is in
better shape). Is any package using marshall, schema or any other not in
python itself?
Deprecate PyXML or just remove duplicated parts?

hunspell-en not installed by default anymore
by Rex Dieter
Seems as of f17, kde live image no longer has hunspell-en installed by
default anymore. I'm *guessing* it's due to comps-related changes dropping
<packagereq type="conditional" requires="hunspell">hunspell-en</packagereq>
in favor of yum-langpacks to handle it and that yum-langpacks doesn't get
used during spin creation.
Followup similar question is whether yum-langpacks gets used during non-live
anaconda installed either.
Anyway, what's the best way out of this mess? some options off the top of
my head:
1. hunspell re-add hard requirement on hunspell-en
2. comps: re-add conditionals
3. some other more awesome idea I can't think of...
p.s. same issue likely hits aspell too

[ACTION REQUIRED v2] Retiring packages for Fedora 18
by Bill Nottingham
Before we branch for Fedora 18, as is custom, we will block currently
orphaned packages and packages that have failed to build since Fedora 16.
The following packages are currently orphaned, or fail to build. If
you have a need for one of these packages, please pick them up.
If no one claims any of these packages, they will be blocked before
we branch for Fedora 18. That is currently scheduled to happen on
or around August 7th.
Note that if you're receiving this mail directly, it's because you are
a co-maintainer of one of these packages. Please work with your
comaintainers to take up maintenance.
