Stephen was showing off his 'oldest' system and I assumed that it was
some Penryn-era relic, so I expected a <= v1 result. One cohort of
people in this discussion argue that even the oldest systems are quite
capable, and another cohort argues the opposite by showing off their
'black beauty' (CarTalk(TM)) antiques that they are loathe to retire. I
mistook Stephen for the latter :)
Sorry I did not give enough information. I was mainly using it to show
that the command Florian gave works on CentOS-8 systems. That said, I
thought my oldest system was a 2009 system but it turns out it is a
2012 system. [I forgot the 2009 system lost some capacitors a couple
of years ago.]
In my limited understanding of HWCAPs, it run-time switches between
different code paths for differently capable exec environments---and
misreading Stephen's post made me wonder if it somehow emulates the
newer ones, which didn't make sense.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Flame wars in
sci.astro.orion. I have seen SPAM filters overload because of Godwin's
Law. All those moments will be lost in time... like posts on BBS...
time to reboot.
