installation guide
by Stuart Ellis
Thanks to all for the tips.
The wording of my original question was probably too vague. I could
either put in FIXMEs (this is what I actually meant by placeholders) for
the designated screenshotter, or try to do the screenshots as I go.
It would definitely be best if one person does all of the screenshots,
especially since what I know about the Gimp at the moment probably
wouldn't fill the 500x375 rectangle, but I'm not sure if we have a
screenshotter to do the work.
I've seen custom FIXME tags cause odd-looking results in the output from
a Docbook, so it's useful to know that FIXMEs should be written with
<remark>.

installation guide
by Stuart Ellis
I've started to write a draft of the "Starting the Installation Program"
to see how it goes, and hit the first point requiring a screenshot.
How should "needs screenshot" be marked ? Should I put in a screenshot
(which can be discarded later), or just put a placeholder ?

Emacs error
by tuxxer
Whenever I run `C-c C-p` to parse the DTD, I get "External entity
CHAPTER not found". Can any one explain why? And perhaps suggest a
fix?

documentation process
by Rahul Sundaram
Hi
I have been in the LDP list for sometime and the
review process there is something like this
* Author submits the document link to the discussion
list
* Peer review is done by volunteers in the list
* If the document is generally agreed upon to be
included the author would then update the document
according to peer reviews
* The document would be assigned to editors who would
then do a language review as well as a technical
review( need not be the same person).
* It is included in LDP and goes through a yearly
review to make sure its relevant and kept updated.
* If not the document author is contacted off list and
gently advised to make appropriate updates
* If the authors cannot maintain the document it is
moved to the unmaintained list or someone else takes
over the maintainance or even completely removed where
it is deemed necessary(gross inaccuracies or such- ex:
kernel howto)
The author as well as reviewers howto has more
details. Fedora docs project should probably adopt
something similar if its not done already
regards
Rahul Sundaram

mirror-tutorial, etc.
by Paul W. Frields
Version 0.22 is reasonably complete except for one open technical
question, noted by a comment in the DocBook XML source. I need an editor
for this document. Find the bug at:
http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=130125
Hope everyone had a nice weekend. I should have the usb-hotplug-tutorial
ready tomorrow, and a first shot at the style guide by the end of the
week.

mirror-tutorial 0.2
by Paul W. Frields
The updated version, hopefully ready for editorial, is available at
Bugzilla #130125. Major issues:
1. I need someone to contribute sections on apt. I don't use it, only
up2date with the yum backend. Note that the tutorial is purposely *not*
designed to be a tutorial for how to use yum and apt. The only reason
they are mentioned is in the context of providing a backend for up2date
on both the server and the client side. As it stands, the tutorial
fulfills its mission, but it does not cover the apt part, only yum.
2. There is a technical question in there about using a directory
containing ISO loopback mount points (disc1/, disc2/, etc.) via NFS for
system-config-packages. Anyone know the answer?
3. For those only willing to browse the results, the nightly HTML build
will be available tomorrow at <http://docs.frields.org>.
I need an editor; anyone willing to bear the pain?
