User Guide for Fedora 10
by Karsten Wade
Fact checking the F9 content and beginning work on the F10 content are
great contributions for new and experienced contributors. I took a few
minutes to start up these pages to follow the new wiki structure
guidelines[1]. One new contributor, Kishan, was looking to start on a
project like this, and the rest of you are invited to join in.
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User_Guide
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User_Guide_tasks
One of the first tasks needing doing is for someone to create the new
pages (using the links on the above pages), populating it with the F9
content from Docs/Drafts/DesktopUserGuide/ChapterName.
Once we get all this rolling and some other task management out of the
way, hopefully by the middle of next week, I am going to finish the XML
conversion and publish the F9 User Guide. What a delay! But it is
still worth it, good content for ~9 months. We'll put it out for
translation, then post those translations as they become available.
Thanks to those who have put so much work into the F9 version.

Fedora 10 Docs Schedule
by John Poelstra
Hi Docs Team,
During the Fedora 9 release Paul helped me craft a schedule of docs
tasks which we published here:
http://poelstra.fedorapeople.org/schedules/f-9/f-9-docs-tasks.html
For the Fedora 10 release I re-worked the underlying TaskJuggler file to
optimize reporting and the ability to allocate resources in the future.
As a result I've lost some of the dependencies that were built in and
am having a hard time reconnecting them. Also as I look at some of the
tasks I'm wondering if they still apply or not.
I'd love your help reviewing the schedule here:
http://poelstra.fedorapeople.org/schedules/f-10/f-10-docs-tasks.html
and telling me:
1) Which tasks no longer apply and should be removed
2) New tasks which should be added
3) Existing tasks that are wrong
--please provide the task that comes before and after along with the
correct dates so I can build the right dependency logic.
Thanks,
John

Re: I am extremely sorry.
by Kishan Goyal
I, Kishan Goyal hereby apologize to the Documentation team, each and
every member of it for my silly actions.
I was inviting my friends to join me in Facebook and imported the
contacts from my email account .Unknowingly, I have sent an invite to
the mailing list.
Once again, I apologize to one and all for my foolishness and
carelesness begging for forgiveness from your side...Guess I had to
learn it the hard way!
Thanking You,
Kishan Goyal.

Course Materials
by Jeroen van Meeuwen
Because I'm giving a couple of courses and can barely find good
materials (books, presentation materials, pre-assessment questionnaires,
etc), I'm now writing my own, which I use at the courses that I give.
They end up in a GIT repository on fedorahosted.org[1], obviously
licensed GPL-compliant. In addition, the course materials strongly focus
on Fedora, the Fedora way, and how to (try and) achieve the same thing
with other distributions.
A brief overview of the courses I'm sticking in there now;
- A Basic Course
Two days of getting acquainted with the Linux Operating System.
- An Advanced Course
Again two days, but getting the candidate to a level where he/she can
deploy Linux in a (SOHO) "business" environment. Samba server,
router/firewall, webserver, virtualization, etc.
- A Senior Course Track
At the fastest possible pace, this course track covers 13 weeks in which
time candidates will rise to the level of LPI's Level 2 Certification
(equals Intermediate Administrator in their terms).
- A RHCE training course track
This one obviously hasn't settled yet... But it's getting there as I go
along and give the course anyway.
You can look at a sneak preview[2] to see if it's anything you like, and
the question I wanted to put on this list is whether maybe people are
interested in contributing.
To be clear, you can contribute anything, even if it's just a tiny
paragraph on Foo, clarifying why/how it's not Bar.
Thank you in advance,
Kind regards,
Jeroen van Meeuwen

Hello everyone,
It's Kishan Goyal again.
For the past few days, I have been trying to copy over the content
from the Fedora 9 manual to the new manual for Fedora 10. I think most
(almost everything) is done and I would be more than happy to receive
some feedback.
Being a newbie, I am still not that confident enough and also nervous
that unintentionally, I might ruin something.
So, please people...
Waiting for any kind of feedback,
Kishan Goyal.

Hello everyone...
I'm Kishan Goyal, currently pursuing a B.Tech. in Computer Science discipline.
I have been recently introduced to Fedora and would like to contribute
my part in it.
I would be more than happy to work with the Documentation team and
contribute my bit in it.
Also, being a newbie, I wouldn't mind some assistance from all you
people out there.
Thanks,
Kishan Goyal
