Self-Introduction
by Felipe Garcia
HI everyone.
I believe I already sent this to the Translation groups, but not the Docs,
so here it goes again.
My name is Felipe Garcia, I¹m majoring in Aerospace Engineering at
Embry-Riddle Univ, Prescott, AZ. I¹m originally from Mexico but moved here
almost 2 years ago to study. I have been using Linux for a few years and
finally decided to contribute. I joined mainly to help to translate
documents from English to Spanish.
I don¹t have a lot of programming experience, and that¹s why I decided to
join the documentation project, I felt like I could be much more useful
helping with the translation.

Joining Docs translation
by Felipe Garcia
HI everyone,
I was wondering which groups I have to join in order to translate documents?
Is it just the Translation CVS commit and l10n commit groups? Or are there
more?

Accessibility Guide f13 branch

I branched the Accessibility Guide, today, and submitted the POT files
for translation. Being that the guide is so small I'm hoping the
translators will go ahead and jump on it.
I also went ahead and built the English version in various formats and
will be posting those soon for proofing.

Self-Introduction

Hello Fedora Docs Project!
My name is Kulkarni Pritam Gajanan, and I am a Post Graduate student of
Computer Engineering at College Of Engineering Pune (COEP). In six month I
will have my masters degree in the Computer Engineering, My project work
focuses on parellel processing especially General Purpose programming on
Graphics Processing Unit(GPGPU). I have always been infatuated with Linux
and open source software. I am seeking a way to give back to the great
project that has given so much to me.
I also enjoy programming; I have extensive C and Java experience. Right now
I am working on CUDA(nVidia's Parallel Processing Architecture for GPGPU
programming) .While I feel I would be a natural fit for an Parallel
Programming developer position as well, I feel that documentation is
potentially where I can do the most good, at least initially. In my opinion,
documentation and user-friendliness is what it is going to take to increase
the popularity of any Linux distribution. Since this is my first step as a
contributor to an open source project, documentation may also be an easier
transition than diving into coding right away.
I have always been an good writer. I have had to write many lab reports,
instruction sets, technical documents, etc. I feel that I could bring these
strengths to the Docs Project.
Since I do not know where I may be needed, I would appreciate feedback from
interested groups. Meanwhile I have joined the docs and docs-commits mailing
lists so I can begin learning your task flow. My GPG fingerprint is below.
Please let me know if there are any other steps I need to take to join the
community. I look forward to working with all of you!

My name is Tom Deering, and I am a senior in Computer Engineering at Iowa

[Fwd: Fedora research survey. Docs/translations folks, please help.]
by Paul W. Frields
Hello Docs and L10n folks,
Greg DeKoenigsberg asked me to pass this on to our Docs and L10n
communities. Please read this and see if you can spend a few minutes
helping researchers who are examining the Fedora Project, by filling
out their survey at the link shown below. Thank you for all your
help!
Paul
----- Forwarded message from Greg DeKoenigsberg <gdk(a)redhat.com> -----
All,
As some of you may know, professors at the Fuqua School of Business at
Duke University have been conducting a study of Fedora, and have put
together an online survey based on interviews they conducted with
several dozen folks from the community.
You can access the survey here:
http://www.projectassessment.org/fedora/
Their research goal is to focus more deeply on three primary themes
that emerged from over 20 interviews they conducted with participants
in the Fedora Project:
o Values that are relevant to participants (e.g., to what
extent is 'Open Source' a relevant value across the Fedora
Project?),
o Activities that participants engage in to help sustain the
community (e.g., to what extent is 'testing' a collaborative
activity across the Fedora Project?), and
o Tools participants use for communication or workflow (e.g.,
to what extent is 'Planet' or 'Koji' used across the Fedora
Project?).
The findings of this research will go a long way to helping us better
understand what makes the Fedora community tick. I think it is a
hallmark of our success as a community that academics are starting to
study in detail the ins-and-outs of how our community works.
Please respond as soon as possible. If you have any comments or
concerns, please feel free to email me.
Thanks again for taking the time to answer these questions.

Reminder to devel?
by Paul W. Frields
I don't think we sent an announcement out yet to the devel-announce@
and/or devel@ lists, reminding devs about the upcoming F13 GA release
notes deadlines. However, that's not too big a problem because the
slip of one week in the Beta and GA dates means we're ahead of
schedule still:
* The deadline for GA release notes now sits at 2010-04-19.
* That first announcement should go out by 2010-04-08 (Thursday).
* Another reminder a week ahead of the deadline, on 2010-04-12 (Monday).
Sound kosher? I think JJMcD has the ball for announcements, but let us
know if you need anything John.

Hi Eric:
I'm a member of the PHP Documentation Team. Someone on the team is
interested in improving our style guide and suggested we read yours. I'm
very impressed. Good stuff.
I noticed something that seems to need clarification. The "A v. an"
discussion on the Common Mistakes page brings up a the potential
confusion around "an URL" vs "a URL" but doesn't state which form should
be used in the Fedora docs.
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Docs_Project_Style_Guide_-_Common_Mistakes
Personally, I'm favorable to "a URL," but who am I to say what your team
should do. :)
Anyway, thanks again for the excellent read,
