Probably good time to post a draft on the website here. 4 - 8 August: establish consistent style* and complete MediaWiki->DocBook formatting 9 August: Fedora Summer Coding completion date after that: -make sure the supplementary materials are ready, including diagrams/infographics (hopefully somebody can help me with that - Ryan Lerch? :D ), -scores and source files for LilyPond, -source files and audio recordings for SuperCollider, -audio materials for Ardour, Rosegarden, and Qtractor. If there's time before the F14 branch (31 August?), I'd like to read everything again after the deadline, because some of this stuff is currently in need of serious help (Solfege & Rosgarden in particular), and one stage of revision might not do it. We'll see if there's time, depending on what real life has in store. * The "Consistent Style" is going to be applied as per the Apple Style Guide. I chose this because I like the style/feeling of their documentation, because I'm already somewhat familiar with it, and because, of the major style guides for software documentation, this Guide's target audience is most likely to be familiar with that one. Mac OS X is, after all, the OS of choice for Creative People(TM). Finally, the project's schedule has always been posted here: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User:Crantila/FSC/Schedule ... but it was still at the beginning of July until about two minutes ago. I'll keep this updated now, I promise! The original question was whether I'm ready to post a draft to the website, and the answer is: "No. Do it next Tuesday." Christopher.

I have removed the "closed" templates from all the beats and reset the beats table at https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Category:Documentation_beats If you would like to help on a beat, please add your name to the "Writer" column. Even if someone is already on a beat I'm sure they wouldn't mind some help, but if a beat is an orphan, please consider standing up and taking the beat. If you are relatively new to Docs, this is a great way to get involved. In some cases, taking the beat is nothing more than wordsmithing some text from the feature pages. If some research is needed, it is a great way to start to find your way around the Fedora Project. There are plenty of opportunities, and many hands make light work. I have placed an asterisk next to the name of any beat writer I haven't heard from this cycle. If your name is in the table and you are willing to help for Fedora 14, please remove the asterisk next to your name. If your situation prevents you from helping this release, then please email me and let me know so I can recruit another writer. I have also made an annotated copy of the Release Notes schedule with additional comments on places where the short description on John's schedule might not have been clear. The dates are from his schedule, however some milestones etc. that we don't specifically do something for have been omitted. Not only is the Musicians' Guide going to be published with Fedora 14, but there will very likely be two significant pieces of software added to the Fedora repositories for the first time (jack2 and Qtractor). It doesn't make sense to write a beat for just one thing, but I think we'll get all three of these things at least. It would also help to forward my evil plans to bring musicians to Fedora. I've added it to the wiki page, since it's a wiki. We can always take it down if it's not a good idea. DocBook XML v 4.5 vs 5?

Hi all, The guides I've seen so far in the Fedora Documentation Project are using DocBook XML 4.5. Wondering if there is any intention to move to DocBook XML 5 at some point, and if new guides should be in version 4.5 or 5? (Went looking for info about DocBook 5 on the FP wiki, plus searched the mailing list archives using Google, but no mentions at all.)
