Self Introduction
by Sean m
Hello all,
My name is Sean and I would like to be included in the Fedora Documentation
Project.
My writing projects that I have worked on have been limited to the
University, where I passed my Writing classes with A grades, and the vast
majority of my papers I have written in various classes have received high
grades as well.
I would say my skills in computers are a little above the average computer
user. I have been using computers since I was very young, with Windows 98,
progressing all the way up to 2010 where I made the switch to GNU/Linux. I
have used several different distros and have built up a debian minimal
install to be a Crunchbang look-a-like. I have also recently passed the
LPIC 101 exam.
I would say that I have I have more soft-skills than anything, I know a bit
about HTML, I'm learning python right now, so not much in the deep
technical aspects of the operating system, but more with UI's and the like.
I feel that I can learn quickly and output great quality work. I have more
than enough time in the week to work on projects for the Documentation
project, and to do them well.

SELinux Guide contributors list
by Misha Shnurapet
Hi.
Is there any possible way for a person to get their name in the contributors list of an old guide?
There has been the SELinux User Guide translated by Alexei Tsitsin into Russian. Shortly after the translation was done, it was moved back to development. The guide hasn't been published since then. It's kinda not fair that this effort is wasted. Recognition of work is very important.

Technical publishing vocab for schema.org
by Sita-pati das
Schema.org [1] is a collaborative effort between the major search engines
to define standard schemas for making material discoverable on the web.
Publican 3 + Docbook 5 give us the ability to embed schema.org metadata in
our publications.
Schema.org are working on a schema for technical documentation and asking
for input from the community.
I'd be interested in discussion of the proposed schema and how we might use
it, and see if any recommendations come out.
New Vocabularies for Technical Publishing
Three new vocabularies have been proposed as the result of a collaborative
effort by several Technology companies. They are specifically for use with
Technical Articles, API reference documentation, and Code.
These proposed vocabularies will improve search engines’ understanding of
documentation with technical content, and thus greatly increase the
discoverability of this documentation.

Self Introduction
by Dayle Parker
Hello all:
My name is Dayle Parker, and I'm a content author at Red Hat working at
the Brisbane, Australia office. I joined Red Hat back in January of this
year, and I've been working on the Red Hat Enterprise Linux
Virtualization docs ever since.
Prior to my Red Hat days, my realm revolved around writing and editing
- I was a journalist for various newspapers in both Australia and
Canada (where I hail from originally). I've also been editor of a
university magazine, social media coordinator for a plush toy company,
and web content writer for several web sites, where I also learned some
HTML along the way.
I grew up around computers, playing DOS games (like Ski or Die and
Commander Keen) and learning graphics on early versions of Photoshop and
Illustrator. I encountered Tux occasionally over the years, it wasn't
until I joined Red Hat that I became fully immersed in Linux. There is
still lots to learn, but I plan to test my growing command line know-how
by taking the RHCSA exam this year. I'm quite comfortable writing in
Docbook XML, and familiar with the docs creation process from my months
as a Red Hat writer. I must mention I'm also a stickler for grammar and
spelling, and believe it's very important to publish accurate,
well-written, and readable docs.
To begin my involvement with Fedora Docs, I'll be working with the other
RHEL Virtualization authors to bring these guides into Fedora. I'm also
looking forward to getting involved with other Fedora docs projects and
working with you all.

FUDCon Docs Hack System alpha unleashed!
by Sita-pati das
K, the system is ready for its alpha release.
Fully operation installation, replete with lavish instructions on its
deployment and use:
https://s3-ap-southeast-1.amazonaws.com/topic-based/docshack-alpha-1.zip
Just unzip, write, and profit!
Source codes:
https://github.com/jwulf/fudcon-docs-hack
Actually, there have been a lot of changes since the FUDCon. I made it work
with multiple books and embedded the book inside the app server, changed
the css, etc.
It hasn't had a lot of testing, but I want to get it out as soon as
possible, and that's now.
Give it a whirl and let me know what you run into, any questions or
suggestions that you have. There is a bugzilla link in the server
interfacee so that you can look at the currently open bugs and feature
requests, and also can open new bugs and RFEs.
Currently you can export any book that you create in the server to a
standard publican book and check it into svn / git / some other system.
Things I am planning to implement in the near futures:
1. Live preview of the rendered docbook while you edit.
2. The ability to export topics and books so that they can be transported
between systems.
3. Possibly the ability to build using topics from multiple systems.
