Hi!
I'm a 35 year old guy from Norway.I've worked in different areas of the
IT industry since 1995, focusing mainly on networking, server
management and computer security. I started working with NT 3.5 servers
and workstations, and after a while I started getting interested in the
Linux operating system. I started using Debian because that was the os
installed on the company's servers. When configuring new servers I
chose Redhat, and began getting comfortable with that.
I've used Redhat to run various firewalls and mail scanners and set up
RH with basic networking and file services as well. I've set up routing
and networking using Redhat and HP ProLiant switches.
I've also worked as an instructor on TCP/IP and computer security.
I've done some programming using C, Python and C#.
Nowadays I use Fedora for my desktop, mainly because it focuses on the
latest innovation for the Linux computing environment.
I've skimmed through some of the code for systemd, and I find this
innovation especially appealing.
I would like to document it for the Fedora docs project, together with
someone else with the same interest!
I will start writing about it these days, but I haven't gotten up to
speed with the Docbook and Publican parts yet, so I'll just start
writing plain text in Emacs...
So that was my introduction, hope to get to know you guys better!

Very cool, and welcome.
We could really use some help in documenting systemd. That is one of
the larger recent innovations, and we have precious little written about
it.
I think you will find Docbook/Publican really isn't much of a barrier,
and if you capture the plain text in emacs you are well on the way. An
alternative would be to capture your text on the wiki. That way it
would be easy to share and have others review. We have wiki to DocBook
conversion tools, but frankly, conversion from plain text is probably
easier, but it is a little harder to share.
Stop by the IRC channel if you get a chance and say hi. I would say
come to our weekly IRC meetings, but we are changing the time and I'm
not sure exactly where we are in that process. We have been meeting
Wednesday at 2300Z, but we are moving that to a time a little more
appealing to Europeans; I'm just not sure when we are making the move.

Over at kde-docs-english we have our own little slice of SVN for
colloborative editing. I find that to be a lot easier to work with than
wikis. Perhaps we could set up a fedorahosted/fedorapeople git repo for
this (or colloborative editing in general)?

I actually have been thinking about doing something for systemd for some
time now, but have been busy with life and work on other projects. Now that
someone else is on it too, I'd be glad to help out in any way I can.
One of the things I was thinking about is asking Lennart if he wouldn't mind
freely licensing some of the material on his blog so we can use some of it.
There's a lot of good stuff there on the "why" of systemd that would be
beneficial to comprehensive systemd documentation.

I know my DocBook pretty well so I can help out there. I just need to brush
up on publican and any fedoraisms in DocBook. (In my experience every
project uses DocBook just a little bit differently. :-)
