I know about the Fedora Project just researching Linux and distributions.
I have used Free/Open-Source for 10 years, I already did some distro
hopping but then stopped on Fedora.
This is the first time I participated in FOSS.

My name is Maíra Canal, I'm Brazilian, 20 years old, and currently, I'm
studying Computer Engineering at the University of São Paulo. I'm a huge
Fedora fan since Fedora 34. I mean, I have two laptops, and all of them
run Fedora. I have Fedora stickers on my backpack and my nickname at the
University almost became Fedora as I was a Fedora evangelist on the campus.
I tell more about the way learned about the Fedora project in this blog
post , but, short story, I was pretty mad with Pop_OS!, watched a
YouTube video, and got madly fascinated by Fedora 34. Installed and,
since then, I and Fedora live a love affair. I love the Fedora community
and how the distro is managed, although I wasn't a direct part of this.
But, I would like to change that. I really want to help Fedora become a
better distro each and every day! Ok, so let's hop on to my skills.
My first contribution to open-source was in October 2021 to the Linux
Kernel. Since then, I have over 20 patches merged to mainstream and a
couple more on review . I also have contributions to
meta-openembedded, kworkflow, and IGT.
Moreover, I speak Brazilian Portuguese natively, so I have already done
some translation work for GNOME.
I'm also pretty engaged in the open-source community in Brazil, as I
have contact with three important college-related FOSS groups.
Currently, I'm part of Google Summer of Code on the X.Org Foundation. My
project is related to KUnit and AMDGPU drivers, and you can check more
on that here .
Ok, that's my FOSS background. About my skills:
- I really like to program in C, C++, and Rust. I also know how to
to work with low-level code and system architecture.
- I use Git as my version control system.
- I know how to package a simple rpm package.
- I like community development and outreach (FYI I found out about
Fedora Join while looking for Fedora Ambassadors).
- I speak Portuguese natively and speak English fluently.
- I don't have any other OS other than Fedora (as you can check on
if Fedora doesn´t support, I build support but I don´t install a new
distro). I use Fedora Workstation with GNOME.
I believe I would fit well on some development projects or community
development projects. I would really like to see the Fedora community in
Brazil grow (maybe see a Hatch in São Paulo next year). Also,
documentation and translation are jobs that I could help with.
Regarding communication platforms, I have used mailing lists before (on
the kernel). I'm always on Matrix/IRC, so I believe that's my favorite
real-time chat platform. I never moderated any forums.
In terms of volunteering, I believe about 6-8 hours per week. Sometimes
less (in finals week for example), sometimes more (vacation).
I guess that's it! Thank you for your attention and time!

Bug in wiki
by Camilo Gonzalez
I found a bug at Fedora 35 Common Bugs wiki.
I would like to fix it.
For that, I have already created my Fedora Account.
I have already signed the Fedora Project Contributor Agreement.
The next step is to join the proper group.
I suppose it is wikiedit, but someone should confirm.
If somebody could help me to join, I would appreciate.
Thanks in advance.

This is Jagruti. I am from India. I work as a Full Stack Developer in Java.
I started contributing to open source in Feb 2022. First to freeCodeCamp
and now to Open Food Facts. It has been three months and I
contribute actively to Open Food Facts in Python.
I also help with documentation this has helped me learn markdown. I do
write articles to explain coding concepts on Medium. Recently one of my
articles has been published on freeCodeCamp as well.
I have joined the Fedora mailing list for more than a month now and have
been following devel lists as well. I wish to contribute to Fedora's
documentation. I have followed the instructions given in prerequisites for
My operating system is Windows 11 and I have installed Podman.
I am still not sure how to run newly developed features on my local
machine, maybe this is something I would figure out along the way. It would
be really helpful if someone could help me in getting started on working
with documentation. In the future, as and when I get familiar with the code
repository, I look forward to contributing to code as well.
Right now I dedicate around 2 hours each weekday. And have 10-12 hours on
weekend. I would be happy to start contributing to Fedora in any way
Thanks & Regards,

This is my first real time participating in a FLOSS project, I choose
Fedora project as I saw how warming the Fedora Mexico community is, I would
like to contribute to the project in any way I can, I'm also a distro
hopper trying to find his place in Fedora (Thanks to the Fedora Mexico
community :) ), distributions that most like me are usually the stable ones
like Red Hat, Debian and OpenSuse, sometimes I try more unstable
distributions but that doesn't happen often, I have experience as a DevOps
engineer in Mexico, the tools on which I have more experience are Python,
Bash, Docker and Jenkins.
I previously joined to fedora-infra mailing list, but I didn't send any
email, I just read a lot of email there, I don't have any preferred real
time chat platform, I use Telegram, Signal, Threema, Discord, and WhatsApp,
but I can use whatever is needed for communicate, sadly I don't have much
experience interacting in online forums and often times I cannot
distinguish sarcasm :)
I'm looking to volunteer on average 2 hours a week, sadly as I have a day
job and small kids :) I cannot guarantee more time than that, also after
reading about the Engineering teams I'm interested on joining the Fedora
Package Maintainers, so I'm going to follow up their guidelines and
in the next couple of days, but as I'm new to the project if you have any
feedback or recommendation, is going to be greatly appreciated!
Have an awesome day, and thanks for reading...!!!
