Hi all
Hi Ian,
My name is Ian and I have been using linux for the past 20 years,
love it
for what it stands for but haven't actually contributed before but want to
now.
I am able to program in a few languages and also DB's etc, not sure what
part of the fedora project I could help out with? as my biggest problem is
finding a project to work on.
Are there any areas that I could assist with?
Welcome!
There are a number of technical areas in the community---primarily
packaging (software dev) and community infrastructure related. The
packaging bits are all related to the set of packages in Fedora:
- creating and maintaining them
- reviewing them
- testing them
- release validation and other QA activities
I think testing updates is perhaps the simplest and most general---just
test the packages you use and provide feedback:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA:Updates_Testing
If there are specific packages you use and are interested in helping
maintain, you can do that too.
The infrastructure bits revolve around all the tools we use to do all
our work. Lots of development and sys admin work here:

Have we opened a "Welcome to Fedora" ticket for you yet? The links
provided there try to give you an overview of the community so that'll
be where I'd recommend starting with.
