This Flock was great — thanks to the organizers for making everything go so smoothly. I got a lot of feedback that not only were the talks great, but the workshops/hackfests really gelled this year.
I think (and also heard from others) that having the conference in the hotel was a big part of this. I love our university connections, but I think we should look for arrangements like this one for future Flocks too.

It is indeed really convenient to roll out of bed and head downstairs. We've historically used university space because it was free, but we're running out of options (i.e. connections at universities) to be able to do that. On the other hand, hotels can be expensive, especially in cities that people really want to go to. In this case, the hotel space was free, but the lunches and coffee were incredibly expensive. IIRC, this was the only hotel in Rochester that would give us the space for free. So while I also really like the hotel way, I also don't want anyone to rule anything out for their bids, as we do this on an incredibly tight budget compared to other events.

I think it was really convenient to have everything in one place.
One of the key element for FUDCon Managua 2015 success was the hacking room at the hotel during night. Having a place where people can hack freely until late at night it is helpful. We had a meeting room open until midnight. But we where having the event at an university.
Having said that, evening events at this FLOCK where outstanding, which allow a lot of social interaction. So my previous comment may not be as relevant in this context. I hope it is still valid for other events.

I think one of the assumption/intention behind having conference in University is to involve local students community. They can learn from conference and help to drive Fedora mission ahead in subsequent years.

Yes, this is true and valuable. The conference wasn't at RIT but RIT helped put it together, and there were a lot of people from RIT there.
That said, Flock is intended to be a contributor conference, so it's not necessarily the best venue to _introduce_ Fedora to new students.

I completely agree! It was very convenient, especially for those who fought jet lag. I arrived at 3.30am and had a talk in the morning, but then I was just a couple of minutes from having a nap to be ready for the rest of the day. I also used the fitness center and swimming pool in the morning and during breaks, so after the conference I didn't feel completely physically damaged like I usually do after sitting on uncomfortable conference chairs and by a computer for a couple days. As much as I like university environment, it was a really nice change.

It was also very nice for those of us carrying heavy basketballs on our stomachs :)
