I think it's nice to close the last day with an everyone-there joint session. It could be the last keynote, but everyone is tired by then. This could be the Council panel, but I'm not sure that would be the best as the last. How about we do lightning talks then? These could be mostly pre-planned submitted short talks, with a few slots left open for on-the-fly inspiration.
+1
I like the idea of one last "come together" big talk or session to put a bow on the conference. Lightning talks are usually a big hit, but maybe a farewell from FPL, council, or other Fedora Leadership members/conference organizers would be a good way to end things.

I particularly like lightning talks for this because it gives people a choice: a more-in-depth session for an audience that chooses to go to that talk over something else, or an overview for the whole Fedora audience (who might benefit from hearing about it even if they don't know it enough to seek it out).

Do you literally mean the last day, or the last talk day?
In the past, the last day has been hack sessions and the typical feedback we get is "let us hack." Also, people are starting to leave for flights and such throughout the day. Trying to gather everyone for one last big hurrah might be difficult logistically.

Good question. Last talk day. :)

At FUDCon Managua 2014, we did last day of talks a closure speak. But it was part of what the university expected and part be able to provide feed back to the fedora project at large. It was something like what we accomplished, what we have learned and a lot (really a lot) of thanking people that made the event possible. It turn out really well. I feel that people got a message that formal "status" was over. Go to FUDPub and have fun, tomorrow hack more if you want or go to do some sightseeing.
I made my task keep track of things and do informal survey, so I was able to provide the talk.
This is just an example of something that worked well in a particular context. I am not implying this will work well for other contexts, but it is possible to think about what may be useful from this experience.
Best regards
Neville

We did this in FUDCon Pune this year. We had a few dedicated tracks for various technologies running in parallel and on the last day we had a "learnings" slot where a participant from each of those tracks came up and talked for 10-15 minutes giving a summary of their track and future action plan, if any. We followed it up with a closing thank you note where we recognized all of the volunteers who helped make the FUDCon possible.
The closing thank you note is something that I haven't seen in a lot of conferences outside India, although admittedly I haven't been to many. They set a very personal note to the conference, which IMO is especially apt for community driven conferences like Flock and FUDCon.
