I wants to implement SSO I have freeIPA installed and working. Can I use cockpit for SSO,

SSO is a very generic term. Are you talking OpenID, SAML, or something else?
IPA uses Kerberos internally and this is one way to implement Single
Sign-on.
Cockpit is a client app. I'm not aware that it provides a SSO service.

At the moment I’m not interested in authenticating web applications.
What I was trying to achieve is a similar to MS AD, I would like to be able to login to
every “domain joined client” Linux clients, Vspehre gui, freenas gui, etc. Using the
following format user(a)ipa.example.com.
I did try this and it didn’t work, example would be using cockpit who supposedly supports
SSO.
Maybe I’m just approaching this from an MS AD perspective...
