FUEL Computer Translation style and convention guide for Hindi (Beta)

Hi, As wrote earlier, now we have "Computer Translation style and convention guide for Hindi (Beta)" ready with us. You can download from here: https://fedorahosted.org/fuel/wiki/fuel-hindi#FUELComputerTranslationstylea… >From the very starting of localization of computer in Hindi language, we have felt the need of one style and convention guide, a guidelines which can be treated as a reference point for Hindi language community working for the localization. I have tried to collect and compile all the info and given all these information in form of a guide named "Computer Translation style and convention guide for Hindi." In this guide, several important aspect of localisation have been discussed. Fonts, Collations, Plural Forms, White spaces, Accelerators, Program Syntax, Functions, Tags, Placeholders, Message Length, Numerals, Calender, Honorific Usages, Acronyms, Product/Brand/Company Name, Keys Name, Abbreviations, Legal Statements, Terminology, Punctuations, Units and Measurements, General Spelling Guidelines, Anusvar and Chandravindu, Use of Nukta, Cardinals & Ordinals, Indeclinable, Hyphen, Glidal ie Shrutimulak 'ya' or 'wa', Basic Quality Parameters etc. are some of the areas tried to be covered in this guide. This work has been uploaded at FUEL svn in both odt and pdf format. In free content zone, we have very less resources like this. So hopefully it will be very much useful for the broader Hindi community. We will appreciate any suggestions related to this guide. Please send your remark on the mailing list itself. Foreign Currency values should not be translated....

Hi, This is just to remind & formally make a note of what I mentioned in the Rajesh's presentation. The foreign currency Values (e.g. $100,£200) should not be translated because the exchange rate between 2 currencies is temporal in nature (e.g. $1=Rs.50.00 as on 1/1/2003 and $1=Rs.45.6 as on 1/1/2011). regards Naveen

FUEL for Malayalam

Hi, I am glad to inform that Swathanthra Malayalam Computing (SMC), the active Malayalam community in open source would like to conduct FUEL for Malayalam. We have arranged an event called "Malayalam Translation Quality" - FUEL for Malayalam" on 06th Feb 14:40hrs at NITC along with the Fossmeet. Lecturers and students from various colleges and universities in Kerala are invited for the same. All support and assistance for this event is provided by Zyxware Technologies, Thiruvananthapuram. SMC takes care of different Malayalam Localization projects like Fedora, Debian, Firefox, KDE, Gnome, WWW-ML etc. SMC is a strong Malayalam community driven by Malayalam speaking malayalees from all walks of life around the world, working on different softwares and applications in Malayalam for Malayalam and other Indian languages. More details about SMC projects at: http://wiki.smc.org.in/. I have also attached the pre-evaluated Malayalam Fuel translation file. Appreciate if you could commit it to the svn. The event organised at NITC is an introductory session for FUEL. The audience will be introduced to the existing Malayalam desktop, different applications in Malayalam etc, make them understand the need of FUEL and then again with this same audience the FUEL completion will be done later in the next session.
