Warsow for the Games Custom Spin?
by Matt Desoto
Warsow is a REALLY high quality first person shooter thats open source and free. at around 90MB I don't see why it shouldn't be considered for inclusion.

Star Trek
by Ric Moore
Wow! I found an original text version of Star Trek, "Super Star
Trek" (SST) that is a teeny tiny little 68k tar file... remember cp/m
sized files? This is it! It plays well, just as I remember it. <sighs>
The file is at: http://almy.us/sst.html
Also, I found an abandoned Linux project named "Star Trek, The Neutral
Zone" at: http://tnz2.cateia.com/ that the author says on this project
home page that he's giving it up to open source. It's about 3 1/2 megs
and openGL. I'm dnloading it now to check out.
What's a game DVD without a good Star Trek? <grins> Ric

Adding info about DRI checking wrapper to Games Guidelines
by Michał Bentkowski
Hi!
I'd like to propose to add information about DRI checking wrapper to
Games SIG Packaging Guidelines.
It could look like that:
"If a game requires 3D accelerated graphic card you have to use DRI
checking wrapper which will show an error dialog if DRI is not
available explaining about Free Software and 3D drivers and then exit.
What you must do is:
1) Add: "Requires: opengl-games-utils"
2) Add to %install:
"ln -s opengl-game-wrapper.sh $RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{_bindir}/%{name}-wrapper"
3) Add "%{_bindir}/%{name}-wrapper" to %files
4) Change the .desktop file Exec entry from "%{name}" to "%{name}-wrapper"
This all assumes your main binary name == %{name}, otherwise adapt as necessary.
If you already have a wrapper script for one reason or the other, you can
incorperate the checkDriOk function directly into your wrapper, no need todo a
wrapper wrapper, see vegastrike's vegastrike-wrapper.sh CVS file as example."
I think it should do. Any comments, suggestions are welcome.

Fedora And Second Life
by Rahul Sundaram
Hi
Good work folks.
http://www.linuxworld.com/news/2007/103107-second-life.html?page=1
"[Lerwick] did a lot of work there. Soon we will be able to drop Kakadu."
"My ultimate goal is to make the Second Life client available in the
official Fedora repository. This is made difficult by the client's
dependence on some closed-source libraries," Lerwick says. He took on
the job of optimizing the OpenJPEG library to bring it up to a usable
level of performance, and wrote a patch for the Linux client to use
OpenAL for audio. "
