--- Comment #1 from Mike FABIAN <mfabian(a)redhat.com> ---
I did not manually start ibus, just start the session and ibus started
automatically. Probably because of ~/.config/imsettings/xinputrc Somehow it
seems to start too early, before the XDG variables are correctly set. Or the
XDG variables are set to late ...
imsettings is installed and the log file contents are:
mfabian@f41:~$ rpm -q imsettings
imsettings-1.8.9-2.fc41.x86_64
mfabian@f41:~$ less ~/.cache/imsettings/log

--- Comment #4 from Koala Yeung <koalay(a)gmail.com> ---
Hi Jens,
There are 1 few difference:
1. The most notable feature of ibus-cangjie is the wildcard matching. It is
excellent to use when forgetting some of the radicals of a character.
ibus-tables-cangjie,I believe, does not support that at all.
2. I am used to traditional Cangjie setup in Windows. ibus-cangjie works
exactly like that out of the box whereas ibus-table-cangjie needs some
configurations to work (e.g. single radical character behaviour, shortcut for
switching between Chinese and English mode). It also has additional feature
(e.g. right-shift toggle to and from pinyin mode) that, while might be useful
to some, obstructs the usual typing flow of users from other platforms.
3. One thing missing from both in ibus-tables-cangjie and ibus-cangjie is
"related-vocab suggestion". I'm not sure how feasible to work it into
ibus-table (considering it has to also support other input methods).
ibus-cangjie would be a much cleaner canvas for such feature in a way that is
comparable to other platforms (i.e. Windows, macOS).
The main target of ibus-cangjie is to prioritize out-of-the-box familiarity to
users from other platforms.
