I think you just want: LANG="nds_DE.UTF-8" LANGUAGE="nds:de" The locale envvars only take a single locale AFAIK unlike the gettext LANGUAGE environment variable which can take a colon separated list of languages. done upstream release of syste-config-language 1.3.5

Hi All, Just done upstream release of system config language 1.3.5, https://fedorahosted.org/releases/s/y/system-config-language/system-confi... * now s-c-l will not backstrace even if language group not present in yum group list * gui enhancements for lower resolution * locale name corrections, added new locales support in s-c-l * fixed RH bugzilla 545499, 607927, 445796, 545499, 598423, 622412, 619267 * added support for dracut, i.e if user changes system locale it will get updated in grub.conf as well see Changelog for more details, thanks to Naveen for his contribution Thanks, Pravin S

Placement of the Indian-Rupee Sign on QWERTY Keyboards

As you might know, the Government of India has recently announced a sign to indicate the Indian Rupee. Several IT-industry leaders are taking an active and critical role in this process and are working with the Department of IT (DIT) to enable the new sign in ICT environments. As a part of the process, an online survey is created to collect peoples’ preference for the location of the Indian-Rupee sign on QWERTY keyboards. The results of this survey will be presented to the DIT. The survey contains just *one question *and is* *available at http://bit.ly/9i8TCa. Answering the question should need no more than a minute. Define an other fallback language than English

Hej folks, I am trying to set up an other language than English for fallback for the case, that not all strings are translated in my first language. Concretely, I tried to have Low German (nds) as my first language and German (de) as the fallback language. (Because English does not make any sense here. - German and Low German do not differ in monetary by the way) So I changed the value of the LANG variable in /etc/sysconfig/i18n to sth. like this: LANG=”nds_DE:nds:de_DE:de” LANGUAGE=”nds_DE:nds:de_DE:de” LC_CTYPE=”de_DE:de” LC_NUMERIC=”de_DE:de” LC_TIME=”de_DE:de” LC_COLLATE=”de_DE:de” LC_MONETARY=”de_DE:de” LC_MESSAGES=”nds_DE:nds:de_DE:de:en_GB:en” LC_PAPER=”de_DE:de” LC_NAME=”de_DE:de” LC_ADDRESS=”de_DE:de” LC_TELEPHONE=”de_DE:de” LC_MEASUREMENT=”de_DE:de” LC_IDENTIFICATION=”de_DE:de” SYSFONT="latarcyrheb-sun16" But this does not set a priority for German (de) as the fallback, but just shows English fallback strings. So, is there any other way to do that, than described above? Did I make a mistake? Regards, Nils

Adding a new language to fedora
