Hi, I would like to ask if someone would sponsor me to host Upstream Release Monitoring[0] on a Infrastructure machine. To host this, an account with cron and unrestricted internet access would be needed and some python packages. The accound would need to store a plain text Red Hat bugzilla password with fedorabugs privileges, therefore everyone with root access to that box (or the host of the virtual machine, if it is one) should be allowed to know it and have at least the same bugzilla privileges. I would prefer some Fedora or at least a RHEL 6 machine to have some more up to date python available. If anyone would sponsor this request, I will write up a formal Request For Resources[1]. I'm currently working as a Level 3 Unix/Linux System Administrator at Hewlett-Packard. I've been using Linux since year 2000, i'm familiar to some of the Linux distros namely, Redhat, Debian, Ubuntu, CentOS. Hi, my name is Hernan Vivani. I am from Mar del Plata, Argentina (GMT -3). I have worked at the IT dept. of several local companies, and right now I am IT Manager at Postres Balcarce S.A. (http://www.postresbalcarce.com.ar) It is a food production company. I am working with Redhat since Redhat 9 and then with Fedora until now. I am Redhat Certified Technician (RHCT # 605010617235652). Hi there! My name is Chris Egeland, and I'm a 21 year old computer enthusiast living in Akron, Ohio USA. I've been interested in Linux for approximately 6-8 years now, and have played around with a handful of distributions in my lifetime, varying from Slackware, Knoppix, Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, and others. In the past few years, I've volunteered in varying capacities for small to mid-sized websites running varying distros of Linux. I've done a little bit of work with Django, some pretty extensive work with phpBB, MediaWiki, and a few other custom scripts that were developed for a specific site. So, with the experience of working with these packages, I have learned PHP, MySQL, and a bit of Python (something that I'm working on learning more extensively right now). Outside of scripting and programming languages, I am pretty decent at writing configuration files (I actually read documentation, believe it or not). I work regularly with Apache Vhost configurations and httpd.conf configurations for a couple of sites. My own webserver currently runs Apache, PHP, MySQL, and will probably be running a Django site in the future once I am a little more familiar with Python. I've got a bit of experience under my belt with administering Linux servers. Mostly Debian, but with a recent project I have been working on, I have a bit of experience working with Fedora as well. I would love to help out however possible, and if there is room for me on the Infrastructure team, I would gladly step up to the plate to learn whatever is necessary. If anyone would like more information about myself, please feel free to ask. I have regular internet access. I am based in the Eastern US timezone, and I have the ability to be in contact with the team at almost any time (IRC/email anywhere if necessary). What is filling up app http logs?

Well the most numerous log is nagios asking for 11731659 GET /voting/ HTTP/1.0 which gets put in both the access log and error log somehow. This is coming primarily from nagios from noc2 and publictest7. It would seem we test 3 times a second per app server. On bapp01 we see in a typical hour the following number of requests per IP address 1447 10.5.126.51 1389 192.168.1.7 1376 192.168.1.63 1346 192.168.1.14 1289 192.168.1.52 1286 192.168.1.25 1280 192.168.1.12 This is a lot more than the other app servers get per hour bapp01.phx2.fedoraproject.org 9413 app01.phx2.fedoraproject.org 2369 app04.phx2.fedoraproject.org 2366 app02.phx2.fedoraproject.org 2399 app03.phx2.fedoraproject.org 2372 app6.fedoraproject.org 1381 app5.fedoraproject.org 1429 so there must be a weighting issue going on somewhere. RFC: Backup upgrade

Currently we are using Bacula 2.4.4 for our backups. With the upcoming upgrades to RHEL-6 the main backup software will be bacula-5.0.0. I have 'gleaned' that the upgrade from 2.x to 5.x is not simple which means we are going to need to do a project on how this will be done. Greetings All, I am Atwin Calchand and I have just completed a four year degree in Telecommunications Engineering. I have been using Fedora since 4 years now. I would like to join Infrastructure to help in whatever way I can and to broaden my skills. I am an avid user of Fedora and FreeBSD (I have set up web, DNS, samba, NAS, asterisk, VPN servers amongst others). For my final year project, I built a remote network monitoring system using only open-source software running on WRAP boxes with the server running FreeBSD. I know Infrastructure uses Nagios for monitoring from what I have read - I have myself experimented with it and my final year project actually made use of Zabbix due to dynamic IP issues. I have also completed the CCNA course and part of the CCNP syllabus (routing and switching (BSCI and BCMSN)). I would be very grateful if you could point me to the right place where I could be useful. I am quite interested in configuring stuff or maybe start with monitoring until I get the gist of how open-source collaboration works. Kind regards, Atwin

Changes in FAmSCo and why it matters, or how to get stuff

As you may know, FAmSCo among other things, is responsible for handling a portion of Fedora's discretionary budget.[0],[1]. We typically run under-budget, sometimes by a relatively large amount. FAmSCo recognizes that leaving money on the table every quarter is effectively a lost opportunity. There's also been talk recently of FAmSCo's role changing a bit to deal with more of Fedora's discretionary budget[2],[3], But enough background, my purpose in this message is to let you know that there are resources available to help you 'Get Stuff Done.' If there's something that helps your efforts in Fedora, be that attending a conference like LISA, Guadec, Akademy, or Pycon, or specific pieces of hardware to accomplish something, we want to help make that happen. FAmSCo is actively going to be looking for opportunities to help contributors, but honestly, Fedora's scope and contributor base is so large that we might never come across many of those opportunities without your help. So how do you get access to these resources? It's relatively easy - you can speak to a FAmSCo member, or preferably, create a ticket in FAmSCo's trac instance[4]. You may also want to review the reimbursement guidelines[5] If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask me or any other FAmSCo member. [PATCH] Disabling sites from building for GA

Hi all, In order to prep for GA, I need to disable fp.o, start.fp.o and spins.fp.o from being updated. This should give us a couple of days to update the links and update any necessary content. In the past this has not been necessary as we'd be working from a separate but since pushing the new fp.o website that has not made it possible.
