I'd like +1's to add a cron job to lockbox01.
The cron job will generate /etc/func/groups based on the virthost and
their func minions.
it is this script, dropped into /etc/cron.hourly
This means we will be able to do things like:
func-command --host=(a)virthost10.phx2.fedoraproject.org "some command
for only those minions on virthost10"
and it runs only on those - nice for rebooting boxes, for example.
From this I am planning on working on specific timed and staged reboot
commands, among others.
low risk to anything to do this.
I'd like to move the weekly infrastructure meetings out an hour...
from 19UTC to 20UTC.
There's another meeting that I and several other folks have just before
the current meeting time, and a bit more buffer would be nice for when
that meeting runs over.
Any objections? If not, we will just move an hour to 20:00UTC this

Discussion today over a few issues with fedorapeople.org and what we
need to do with it.
- be able to backup fedorapeople.org much much faster
- expand the amount of diskspace available on it
- offer faster upload to fedorapeople.org from places where most of our
- offer 'project' space for groups to have unquota'd space available
from fedorapeople.org for various non-hosted projects:
examples: test spins from anaconda team
abrt test-suite results
Two projects today both needed more space - but we were getting hung
up b/c of how the quota'ing is laid out with the existing
fedorapeople.org. I suggested just adding space and making it a new
disk but Kevin mentioned the concerns about upload speed to
fedorapeople.org and the issue of backing it up quickly.
After a bit of looking around ibiblio03.fedoraproject.org was seen as a
likely good place to put a new fedorapeople.org.
If we put it there we could give it:
1. more ram
2. more processors
3. considerably more space
4. back it up faster (backup02 is also on ibiblio03 so backing it up
should be very fast)
5. being on i2 and in a fast-colo at ibiblio would give us better
upload rates for many many of our users.
So the plan would be:
- setup a new people## box over at ibiblio03
- setup two disks
- the normal /srv layout we have now
- a new disk for project space that is outside of the quota'd area.
Kevin suggested possibly replicating this people## over to the old
location using rsync so, in the event of unplanned calamity, we could
continue to offer the service.
I'm traveling this week and working via a tethered phone. Freenode seems
to have blocked the IP range that my phone is using so I can not get into
#fedora-admin or #Fedora-metting. Does anyone know of a public IRC bouncer
that I can use?
As i read at:
here is my presentation:
Hello Fedora Infraestructure group!
My name is Emiliano, i'm from Argentina (State: Santa Fe, City: Rosario)
and you can find me on freenode with x-ip as my nick.
I'm a member of PyAr/Python Argentina (http://python.org.ar/pyar/) and i
work as a python developer in a company from the city where i live.
I am a Gnu/Linux user since 2002, a Python Developer for 3 years and a
Gnu/Linux system administrator since 2006.
My skills to offer:
- Backend Python development, i can write async network servers, system
administration tools, package managers :-P (
https://bitbucket.org/edvm/pypkgtool/overview its a really simple packet
manager heh! but its fun!), monitor tools, etc :-).
Skills to learn:
- I would like to learn to code in C/C++ and get a better understandig
about the Linux kernel. I would love to know how to write kernel
modules/drivers, hack the tcp/ip kernel stack, and that kind of funny stuff
What would i like to work on ?
I would like to work on backend related stuff, like doing console system
tools, writing network protocol/servers, etc :-)
Thanks for reading my introduction,
I want to take part as a SysAdmin in Fedora project. Please let me know
where I can start and how I start contributing. I had a few starts earlier
(3-4 years back) but could not continue further due to work pressure. I
from India (GMT+0530). IRC Nick is amitphukan on #freenode. I am generally
on #fedora, #fedora-admin, #fedora-devel among many others.
