new release: dist-git 1.8
by Michal Novotny
Hello,
a new dist-git version has been released. Changes include:
- fix python-grokmirror dep
- add lookaside_dir option, deprecate cache_dir
- defattr is not needed since rpm 4.2
- add disable_group_check configuration option for upload script
Probably the most interesting one is that there is now option to disable
packager group check for uploading. By default the check is on and for
Fedora the check is enabled. This is intended for other distros (that e.g.
do not have the 'packager' group) to be able to use this package.
The update for EL7 is here:

PDC status
by Pierre-Yves Chibon
Good Morning Everyone,
With flock next week I figured you may want to discuss there the future of PDC.
So here is a little status update of where things stand now.
We had a meeting a little while back that resulted in the following summary
email:
https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/infrastructure@lists.fedora...
The gist of is was:
- The critpath boolean will be ported to bodhi who is the main (but not only)
consumer of it. Bodhi will have an API to expose that boolean and allow releng
to change it.
- Module metadata will go into MBS
- The dependency data (which RPMs depend on which) will be dropped for now
The rest of the data stored in PDC: compose metadata, release life-circle
tracking, packages/branches information, need to find a new home.
That new home will be a new app, most likely in Django and using the Django Rest
Framework (DRF) which should allow to re-use some of the code from PDC.
Kellin had agreed to be the project leader on this and was working on gathering
the requirements for the new home.
Pingou had agreed to look for the team to build that new home.
When PDC was announced to be retired we hot offered help to build the new home
for the data it stores and help migrate away from it.
I contacted the person who made that offer and, it is still valid granted we can
provide a list of requirements for the new system and a time estimate.
Basically, so we can say: we need X persons to do these things which we estimate
will take Y weeks.
In addition, Aurélien mentioned he may be interested with this effort but has
also some work on his plate (including the next gen fedmsg: fedora-messaging).
Finally, Kellin has left Red Hat and thus no longer has the time to be the
project leader on this project. So afaik, we currently have no lead on this
and I do not know what was the status of Kellin's gathering of the requirements.
Hoping this helps discussing things next week.
Have a nice day,
Pierre

OpenARC package review, FI use?
by Matt Domsch
The goal of ARC is to improve deliverability of mail that passes through
intermediary administrative domains, which given DKIM, DMARC, and SPF
policies, might otherwise be quarantined, rejected, or silently dropped.
Common examples of Intermediaries are mailing lists, alumni or professional
email address providers like universities or professional organizations,
et cetera.
If Fedora Infrastructure, as a forwarding and mailing list service, wishes
to implement ARC http://arc-spec.org/ on the mailing list and alias
forwarding servers, I have an OpenARC package review request open:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1615162
Thanks,
Matt

No power til late tonight
by Stephen John Smoogen
A dump truck decided it preferred to be where a power pole near us was.. so
we don’t have power for the rest of the day. I will be relocating to a
place where I can get back online beyond my 1 bar verizon iPad link (as
that is the only thing with any connection at the moment.)

Introduction
by Kryptxy
Hello all,
I'd like to be a part of fedora infrastructure.
IRC nick: kryptxy
I am a recently-graduate student interested in Linux system administration and everything related.
I have experience in python programming language, and willing to learn new technologies as required.
What I am hoping from joining Fedora Infrastructure is to learn about large-scale system integration, and how such systems are managed.
I am really excited to be a part of Fedora, and hoping to learn a lot from awesome hackers who are helping making Fedora what it is right now.
Thanks!
