Hi John,
Thanks for the note, much appreciated. :)
I've copied the infrastructure team on this mail - hopefully they can help out with this issue. I'm also curious about the issue with Gnome Updater Tool - is infra aware of this as a known issue?
Cheers!

Hi Robyn,
I'm not sure who is supposed to be managing the mirror table or the state of the mirrors, as there don't appear to be any docs on this important part of the Fedora infrastructure online. Can you pass this on to whomever is in charge of deciding the mirror sites?
We need to get someone to either investigate why a particular pair of Fedora mirror sites have stopped mirroring. The following has been going on for weeks now, for all updates:
http://fedora.mirror.nexicom.net/linux/updates/16/x86_64/squid-3.2.0.15-1.fc...: [Errno 14] HTTP Error 404 - Not Found : http://fedora.mirror.nexicom.net/linux/updates/16/x86_64/squid-3.2.0.15-1.fc... Trying other mirror. ftp://mirror.nexicom.net/pub/fedora/linux/updates/16/x86_64/squid-3.2.0.15-1.fc16.x86_64.rpm: [Errno 14] FTP Error 550 : ftp://mirror.nexicom.net/pub/fedora/linux/updates/16/x86_64/squid-3.2.0.15-1.fc16.x86_64.rpm Trying other mirror.
Its not fatal for non-gui command-line users, as the next mirror in the list is behaving properly and yum does the right thing, but its deadly for the graphical Gnome Updater Tool (which does not seem to use fallback sites [possible bug], and simply fails). The end result is that people who use the graphical update tools have been seeing no security and other updates for weeks now, which is pretty dangerous.
If Nexicom has just broken their refresh mechanism temporarily, can we give them a heads-up about the problem? If they are now broken permanently, can we get it removed from the list?
Thanks,
John Mellor

I've mailed the admin of this mirror to ask them to look into things.
I'm not aware of this PackageKit issue. Could someone perhaps file a bug on it and we can see about getting more attention on it?
Cheers!

Once again, the Nexicom mirror site is lunched, causing the gui updater to erroneously declare that there are no updates. The command-line yum update finds them after finally falling back to a sane mirror. There is definitely (a) a continuing problem with both nexicom mirrors, and (b) a bug in how the gui updater is dealing with this. Is there any way to turn on some kind of debug logging in the gui updater to allow its incorrect behaviour to be logged?
Cut/paste of the console session showing: (a) the broken mirror, and that causes (b) the gui updater failure problem:
$ sudo yum update [sudo] password for xxxx: Loaded plugins: langpacks, presto, refresh-packagekit adobe-linux-x86_64 | 951 B 00:00 updates/metalink | 9.8 kB 00:00 updates | 4.5 kB 00:00 http://fedora.mirror.nexicom.net/linux/updates/16/x86_64/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno -1] repomd.xml does not match metalink for updates Trying other mirror. updates | 4.5 kB 00:00 ftp://mirror.nexicom.net/pub/fedora/linux/updates/16/x86_64/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno -1] repomd.xml does not match metalink for updates Trying other mirror. updates | 4.5 kB 00:00 updates/primary_db | 5.6 MB 00:33 updates/group_gz | 431 kB 00:02 Setting up Update Process Resolving Dependencies . . .

http://www.packagekit.org/pk-bugs.html has some thoughts on getting more debugging from it.
