Kevin,
The ones Ralph made are in ogv format, I am not sure about the ones on Youtube or Vimeo. It would be awesome if we could get a repo or storage area setup in Fedora Infrastructure so we can have these local to the Fedora project as well.

Side note here... do we have videos in ogg or some other completely free format? If so, we could just put them up for download somewhere in Fedora Infrastructure?
Just a thought...

Well, we could do two things here:
1. Just setup a 'group' space on fedorapeople. So, it would be under: http://fedorapeople.org/groups/ There's no quota there, and anyone with fedorapeople or a video group access could arrange things. There's no backups of this space currently.
2. Setup some space on mirrors. This would need to be more restricted to just a small few people to upload to, it would be mirrored and backed up. It would be under our alt content: http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/
Thoughts?

I like option 1 personally, I think it would be easier to setup and if someone joins the video group and have something to upload they can right away.
I would like to get a few other opinions though, I have included the video mailing list to get Nitesh's input too.

Judging by the wiki spam, I already see hidden video adverts for Viagra and co.
I would suggest there is some kind of peer review for content!

On our wiki? Please do send me any pages you see with this sort of thing so it can be reverted.
I've not noticed any wiki spam in a while, and when I see it I usually revert it pretty quickly.

Absolutely. Anything made available should be approved by the sig/reviewed.

Hi Kevin, All the videos on vimeo Fedora channel are in .ogv format. On youtube we have a mixture of formats, I already have the list of available videos its just about separating them based on the format and categories. I would agree that the content has to be reviewed before it becomes publicly available as there could be several issues related to licensing which could be missed out by anyone unknowingly.

Could we have a space setup where people could upload, but have to be in a Video FAS group in order to push/commit the videos? I agree there needs to be a review process setup. Option 2 is starting to look good now :)

Something of that sort could work. I mean we can have set of guidelines which everyone under that FAS group should follow, such as before uploading the videos needs to be reviewed on the Videos mailing list or so(could be refined further) . But it would certainly help us to monitor the content going out which is really important.

Well, you could with option 1 as well. Just make a directory only readable by some group (we could make one if there's not already one) and then people in that group could scp videos and review them but the webserver couldn't see them to serve them to anyone else.

Kevin, That sounds like the best idea, I have been talking to Nitesh, and I was going to create a ticket for a video FAS group. After the freeze is over and the group is created, maybe we could get a directory setup? - Chris>>> Kevin Fenzi kevin@scrye.com 09/24/13 11:32 AM >>>On Mon, 23 Sep 2013 20:45:30 -0400"Chris Roberts" Croberts@cintrixhosting.com wrote:> Could we have a space setup where people could upload, but have to be> in a Video FAS group in order to push/commit the videos? Sure. We can do that anytime... people03 isn't frozen.
