Hello everyone,
Since the last couple of weeks, I have restarted the work on Mote[1] with a definitive
checkpoint to package all changes made so far (which includes porting to Python 3 and
phasing out of the use of Memcached) in a version bump 0.7.0, packaged for RHEL8. I have
contacted Chaoyi Zha (FAS:cydrobolt) and took up the packaging[2] task soon after but one
of the first builds failed[3] due to the intended non-availability of fedmsg on RHEL8.
It would be some time before the CI would be converted[4] from Python 2 to Python 3 with
Tox, something that Jan Kuparen (FAS:copperi) is working on - only after which the repo
would be able to accept pushes/merges made against the primary branch. I wish to ask if
there is any proposed deadline for this packaging task on RHEL8. If there is one, we would
want to first discuss deployment on a RHEL7 based container before the porting happens.
So, normally I don't think it would matter much since the current
version is working fine.
However, this is kind of blocking fixing zodbot to use python3 and talk
to our new account system. ;(
But I think I might see a hacky way we can avoid that problem...
So, thanks for the information! Very much appreciated.
