Puppet required?
by Avram Lubkin
I was looking over the project and it looks interesting, much improved over
Spacewalk. I particularly like how different projects are used instead of
one monolithic project. There's just one thing that concerns me. It looks
like if I want to do provisioning I have to use Foreman and if I use
Foreman I have to use Puppet. Since Puppet requires ruby installed on all
clients I can't deploy it. This is due to a security requirement. I can't
add interpreters to a system unless I have a good justification. I can do
what puppet does without adding another interpreter, so I can't justify it.
I know there are lots of organizations that use puppet and probably install
Ruby to support it, but I've never worked with a group that would allow
that. Any plans to support CFengine or something similar that wouldn't
require another interpreter on the clients? Python is Okay too, since any
RHEL or RHEL-like system already has it.
Please reply all, not on the list.
Thanks,
Avram

failing to register a system
by Rich Loring
I just setup a katello system and am currently trying to register a system
with the rmp created in /pub.
I seem to be getting an error which is as follows:
Non-fatal POSTIN scriplet failure in rpm package
candlepin-cert-cutomer-my.server.name-1.0-1.noarch
warning: %post(candlepin-cert-consumer-my.server.name-1.0-1.noarch
The server is running on RHEL 6.3 and I am trying to setup a repo for
scientific linux.
Any help would be apperciated.

Katello 1.0 and Fedora 16 (SELinux)
by Lukas Zapletal
Hello,
there are several reports about selinux issues under Fedora 16 on the
IRC and now on BZ:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=848948
It's a bug in Fedora 16 that has been already fixed. Update SELinux in
Fedora 16 and you will be fine. Fedora 17 is already fixed (we are still
not there yet).
There is a note on the https://fedorahosted.org/katello/wiki/Install
page, read it carefully. I recommend to subscribe to changes of this
page if you work with Katello on a daily basis.
Please note this is a regression since we changed our build root and
koji builds are now built on RHELs. We were using Fedoras for that. That
is the reason why the bug was not showing. We could change our build
root but since it would be quite a task and we will hopefully have
Fedora 17 support very soon, we can live with this for a while.
I already announced this on the devel list when I found it, my mistake I
did not do it here. So take care, and have a nice weekend!

Re: [candlepin] Fwd: Centos 5.8 question
by Devan Goodwin
We have not been publishing community repos for EL5 previously but
I'm going to try to spin one up now. If there are no build issues I'll
report back shortly with the repo location.
Cheers,
Devan
