katello-agent updates
by Brian Lee
Hello All,
According to the System Registration guide, it's indicating that we should
use the katello-agent that's in the native repo's. I'm showing that to be
version 1.1.2 from the EPEL repo. However, I noticed the katello-agent
version in the Katello 1.3 repo is katello-agent-1.3.2-1. Furthermore, I'll
be testing the current nightly Katello server in the lab to prepare for
Katello 1.4, which is showing an agent version of katello-agent-1.4.3-1. Is
there any compelling reason to use one of the katello-agents over the other?
Thanks

Errata Import via API possible ?
by Cypher
Hi guys,
is there a way to import / create errata via the API ? I couldnt seem
to find the right API call.
For Spacewalk there exists a script that parses the centos-announce
mailinglist and creates erratas over the API because the CentOS repo
doesnt have errata like EPEL does.
I'd like to port that feature-script to Katello. Maybe using Redhat
OVAL instead of the mailinglist.
If there is no way over the API, I'd appreciate a description on how
errata is layouted in the database.
Best, Phil

How can content be removed from the Library?
by Brian Lee
Still trying to understand how content is retained/purged from Katello. I
tried the following on a test system running Katello Version: 1.3.30-1.el6:
- Created a custom repository
- Synced repo to the Library
- Did not promote the content
- Deleted the custom repository
The packages no longer show in the content search, yet they still exist in
/var/lib/pulp. Only one repository was created on the system.
Thanks for your help

katello-foreman-all?
by Brian Lee
Looking through the documentation provided by the downstream katello
project here
https://access.redhat.com/site/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Satellite/6.0/...,
I noticed the mention of running "yum install katello-foreman-all" instead
of "yum install katello-all" if Foreman integration was desired. Looks like
that package isn't available in the katello 1.3 repo. Is this the tighter
Foreman/Katello integration available some way other than using the RH
Satellite 6.0 MDP 1?
Thanks

Share Repos between Organizations

Hi there,
Is it possible to share custom repositories between organizations? I
have two separate organizations defined in my katello install, but I
don't see a way to share a repo between them. Will I have have to
duplicate the content?
Thanks,

subscription-manager and katello
by Colin Coe
Hi all
I've registered a system with Katello that was previously managed by a
Spacewalk server. Despite showing up in Katello, the system still thinks
it's managed by Spacewalk.
---
yum check-update
Loaded plugins: product-id, rhnplugin, security, subscription-manager
This system is not registered to Red Hat Subscription Management. You can
use subscription-manager to register.
This system is receiving updates from RHN Classic or RHN Satellite.
---
When I registered it, I saw:
---
subscription-manager register
--serverurl=host.company.com--environment=Prod --username=admin
--password=password
WARNING
This system has already been registered with Red Hat using RHN Classic.
The tool you are using is attempting to re-register using Red Hat
Subscription Management technology. Red Hat recommends that customers only
register once.
To learn how to unregister from either service please consult this
Knowledge Base Article: https://access.redhat.com/kb/docs/DOC-45563
The system has been registered with id: 53764cd6-4820-4b36-ac96-c29ea14b6aee
---
I tried going to the article mentioned but it appears the article no longer
exists.
(Don't know if it matters, but both the Katello host and client are running
RHEL6. The Katello server is fully patched. The client is almost fully
patched, only tzdata is to updated and this was to be a test of updating
from Katello)
Any ideas?
Thanks

Managed config files
by Colin Coe
Hi all
Just wondering what the Katello equivalents to rhncfg-client and
rhncfg-manager are?
Thanks

Re: Content view filters
by Partha Aji
Howdy Colin,
Assuming you have katello 1.3, you should be able to create an excludes filter to achieve what you want.
Steps
1) Go to the content view definition which has that RHEV-M content view
2) Filters -> New Filter (<if you dont have one>)
3) In the created filter, Add New Rule -> Packages
4) Type nagios-plugins* -> +Add
5) Click on "Edit" next to "Specifying Packages to Include " and select "Specify packages to exclude" instead
6) Finally go back to "Filters"-> Select your filter -> Click Repositories and select the repos you want the filter to work on.
7) You can then refresh the created content view and the selected packages should ve gotten excluded.
Lemme know if you have further questions..
