too many settings?

I'm getting confused among the many different ways to configure some settings with KDE on Fedora. I'll illustrate with a specific, but wonder about the general solution. For display power management, I have, at least: Launcher... Administration... Display (which has no power settings) Settings... Screen Saver (which has a Display Power Management area) Settings... System Settings... Display... Power Control (with different settings/values) Advanced... Power Management... General Settings... Let PowerDevil manage screen powersaving (I think this implies 'Edit Profiles' will have precedence, but only a poweruser could interpret the help to know that, if I even got it right) Edit Profiles... [Profile name]... Screen (which has even different time values) Volume controls would be another one - I need at least KMix and the Pulse Audio control panel, which doesn't even show up in my menu. So, in a situation, how do I figure out what to use? Is there a general rule of precedence or do I have to understand the interworkings of the parts to know what to set? That aside, do I have my systems installed incorrectly? If not, is there an existing effort to refactor redundant/confusing settings GUI's? KDE SIG Meeting today at 14:00 UTC

Hi, just a reminder to those who were present 2 weeks ago and a notice to those who weren't: as discussed 2 weeks ago, the KDE SIG Meeting will be today (Tuesday, July 21, 2009) at 14:00 UTC (not 16:00). (For those of us in Europe, that will be 16:00 CEST instead of 18:00.) The plan is to keep 14:00 UTC as our meeting time from now on. Session manager Krashes

The Rc1 is running smooth indeed. But when if i goto the session switcher it crashes. KWord has lost its toolbox

I installed the RC package of koffice2 when Rex built it, and recently updated it to the 2.0.0 version. I'm struggling to use kword, as the toolbox appears to have gone missing. Any ideas?
