I still don't feel like there has been adequate discussion on where in
userspace this needs to be handled. So far all I've seen is what appears to
be a GNOME only solution. I'll CC the KDE list to at least get another
perspective in here.

How to choose the main one when using double monitors in KDE SC 4.5 (Fedora 14)
by Robin Lee
Hello!
With this setting (see attached display-settings.png), KDE always places the
menu bar on VGA1 and considers VGA1 as Display 1, and the whole display
turns ugly when using double monitors ( see attached
Fedora14-KDE-netbook.png). But I want to choose LVDS1 as the main monitor
and where to place the menu bar. How can I get it?
With the same setting, KDE SC 4.4 (Fedora 13) always uses LVDS1 as main
monitor and works all like what I expect, so I was not bothered.

Non-default desktop validation testing for F14 final
by Adam Williamson
Hi, folks. Just an update on desktop validation testing for F14 final
(we'll hit the TC stage next week).
I've been chatting to a few people about the idea of having bugs in
desktop validation outside of GNOME block releases, and there turn out
to be quite a lot of questions involved in terms of how exactly the
project as a whole views the various spins and desktops. I'm happy to
discuss this in more detail (oh, so much boring detail) if anyone's
interested, but the upshot is that basically we're going to have to ask
the board for clarification on a few things about the exact status of
non-default desktops and spins.
In the meantime, given the conclusion, I agreed with others in the
release process (QA and releng) that for F14 Final (and we did this for
Beta too) we'll consider failures in the desktop validation testing for
LXDE and XFCE to be nice-to-have bugs under the new NTH process, rather
than blockers. That means we'll take fixes for them through the release
freeze, but won't hold the release for them. Failures in desktop
validation testing for GNOME and KDE will be considered blockers.
Once we have the wider questions sorted out one way or another, we'll
take another look at the status of failures in LXDE and XFCE, and any
other desktops/spins we extend validation testing to for F15 (I'm
looking at Sugar and Meego for that time). But for now, just a heads-up
that we'll be treating XFCE/LXDE validation issues as nice-to-have for
Final. Thanks!

kde-4.5.2 - kde-plasma-yawp problem
by Colin J Thomson
Hi,
Just updated to 4.5.2 and had a slight problem with plasma crashing at start
up, it turns out kde-plasma-yawp was the problem:
##
plasma-desktop: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/kde4/ion_accuweather.so:
undefined symbol: _ZN12IonInterface14resetCompletedEPS_b
<unknown program name>(24314)/: Communication problem with "plasma-desktop" ,
it probably crashed.
##
Removing kde-plasma-yawp and plasma-desktop started fine, all is looking
good..

kmix not handling multiple audio devices correctly in 4.5?
by Andreas Petzold
Hi,
I'm running kde 4.5.1 on F13. If I plug in a usb sound device, audio output
switches to the usb device since I've set the usb device to be preferred in
phonon system settings. However, kmix doesn't switch the master channel to the
preferred device. I can switch the kmix master channel manually, but I would
expect that this will happen automatically.
Is anyone else seeing a similar problem, or do I have a botched pulse/phonon/...
config?
Cheers,
Andreas

Some configuration missing in KDE 4.5
by Michal Hlavinka
Hi,
I've just wanted to change default app for jpeg files, but System Settings->File Associations is gone. It was in advanced tab in KDE 4.4, but I can't see it nowhere in 4.5 Was it moved somewhere where I can't find it or is it a bug?
Cheers,
Michal

Grip freezes KDE session.
by linux guy
I'm ripping a few CDs using grip.
I rip the first one and everything is fine. It ejects when done. When
I start ripping the second one, my KDE session freezes.
All is well if I exit the session and start a new one.
Anyone else experience this ?
Thanks
