Kiosk setup fails
by Patrick O'Callaghan
I'm trying to set up a very basic "foolproof" environment for an elderly
relative (basically a browser, image viewer and Skype). This will be on
a shared Fedora netbook so I can't do anything too radical. An obvious
starting point would seem to be kiosktool, but it won't allow me to
create a new profile. The error is "klauncher said: Unknown protocol
'fish'."
I thought fish was included in KDE, but maybe not. If so, which extra
package(s) do I need?
Alternatively, is there a better way of setting up this kind of
environment without spending days editing config files by hand? It
doesn't have to be KDE based.

amarok debuginfo not working.
by Dragseth Roy Einar
Hi.
I'm trying to report a bug in amarok but they claim that the debuginfo isn't
there. I have installed the debuginfo packages that seems to be required.
rpm -qa | grep amarok
amarok-2.2.2-3.fc12.x86_64
amarok-debuginfo-2.2.2-3.fc12.x86_64
amarok-libs-2.2.2-3.fc12.x86_64
amarok-utils-2.2.2-3.fc12.x86_64
It seems to me like the kde-dev folks are right as I get this when starting
amarok under gdb
Reading symbols from /usr/bin/amarok...Reading symbols from
/usr/lib/debug/usr/bin/amarok.debug...
warning: section .dynbss not found in /usr/lib/debug/usr/bin/amarok.debug
warning: section .gnu.liblist not found in /usr/lib/debug/usr/bin/amarok.debug
warning: section .gnu.conflict not found in /usr/lib/debug/usr/bin/amarok.debug
The backtrace still looks like this:

More details can be found in the bug report:

Am I missing something obvious?

KNode configuration
by Timothy Murphy
I get a number of complaints when I answer postings with KNode,
as it seems to give only the first newsgroup in the "Followup-To" header.
Is this something one can change,
or is it a feature of KNode?
Personally, it seems quite a sensible option to me,
but as I said it is objected to by some.

Amarok refuses to update collection
by Patrick O'Callaghan
amarok-2.2.2-3.fc12.x86_64, KDE 4.3.5, F12.
I added an album of MP3 tracks to my music directory, but Amarok doesn't
seem to see it, neither automagically nor via an explicit Tools->Update
Collection. The tracks are all appropriately tagged, but not even
restarting Amarok nor logging in and out of my session will persuade it
to see them.
Any thoughts?

= Summary =
qtwebkit jit/selinux problem: update?
* current state is unknown to KDE SIGgers
* we have to contact upstream
* it should be handled for both Qt/Gtk WebKits as both are affected
* jreznik to lead efforts to improve webkit jit/selinux situation
#565420: akonadi kcm not shown in systemsettings
* with kdepim-runtime-4.4.0, upstream decided to hide the akonadi-related
kcm's...
* "Users should not need it" is not an explanation
* ltinkl to contactd kdepim upstream about the decision/rationale behind
hiding akonadi kcm's
o with prepared use cases!
* we agreed that we will show the Akonadi KCM in System Settings in Fedora (at
least for now).
open discussion
* we will delay decision on what to do with qt-4.6.3 for 2-3 days
* we will have a new de-based mirror for kde repos soon
